Question to those familiar with Weight Watchers

I have no issues losing weight when I have to, but I do have issues maintaining my comfortable weight once I get there. I feel like WW would be a good tool for just that.

However, I am not sure how feasible it is for someone who is not completely absorbed in just that goal at all times. I feel like one must constantly check how many point is any given food they put in their mouth. What does on do when a meal is home cooked, like a soup, or meatballs? Do i have to always refer to the point list and carry a little calculator with me?

Also, if I join on line does that mean i have to have a SmartPhone in order to be able to have access to the info I will need? Or can I still get the printed materials I need even if I only have an online membership?

I don't think I got any printed materials when I signed up online, but they do have a program called Simply Filling where you figure out when to stop eating by when you are full. They have a list of Power Foods that you can eat.

I do the points counting though, as I have a lonnnnnnnng way to go.

I do have a smartphone now, and it makes it easier, but you can just use a computer too.

Or sign up for 1 month at a place, and then drop it and switch to online..

Thank you so much! How do you know how many points is each dish though? If you make a dish at home, do you have to count all the ingredients that went into it and then divide based on the portion you eat?

If you just wanted the printed materials, you can order all the materials online without having to join. Here

If you are having something you cooked at home, you can calculate points for everything in the recipe separately and then just divide by the number of portions OR if it's a pretty standard recipe, like say chicken noodle soup, you can just look up chicken noodle soup and just use those points. Thay may not be 100% accurate depending on your ingredients, but for me, it was always good enough.

Yes if you make something you would add up all the the points of the ingredients to get the total points for the dish.

COunting points can become overwhelming and while I have been doing WW since 2007 I have never counted points. Back then they had the "Core" program along with the points. Now the core would be the simply filling. You basically eat high protein and low carbs and pay attention to how you feel and do not overeat. I lost 30lbs on it and kept it off. I am now back on WW to lose the baby weight and am doing simply filling.

If you are already at the weight you want and just want it for maintenance it might be hard to jump in. It took me the losing weight part to really learn how to eat and how to know when I was full and then to find that balance of stop "dieting" and maintenance.....Maintenance is the hardest part. I can lose the weight no problem...keeping it off is the hardest part.

I love "core" and it's actually very easy to follow and easy when you eat out. I also think you consistently lose weight where the points is always up and down
