Questions for those who got BFP's after Miscarriage
Did you see your doctor earlier since you did have a miscarriage previously?
I personally want to keep going for blood work (if allowed) to make sure that my numbers are rising a good amount. Do they even do this?
Do they get you in earlier to see the sac?
I don't know - I feel like I will want to do as much as I can to make sure the pregnancy is progressing the right way.

My dr let me go in for bloodwork immediately and also saw me earlier and more frequently during the first trimester. He did it to ease my mind and I was very grateful.

Ok, that is good to know. I'm hoping my doctor will be the same way if/when I get a BFP.

Good question. I was scared enough the first time... I don't know how I will function if/when I get pregnant again.

Yes, I did. After 2 m/c's I went in for early bloodwork when I was pg with my DS. Had a sono around 7w (saw hb) then again at 9w just to be safe. Best of luck to you!

Yes, my experience too. My doctor is sending me for three beta checks now, and I have an appointment for a sonogram at 6 weeks exactly. He is doing this b/c of my prior losses.

Re: Questions for those who got BFP's after Miscarriage
Yes, i'm with an RE now, so i am getting blood work, and i'll have early sonos..
But when i called my obgyn, they immediately offered to give me bloodwork since i had the miscarriage..the nurse said since i had the miscarriage they could also give me a sono a little earlier than they normally would...i have a feeling most doctors offices probably will do this. GL

My ob had me come in early just to monitor from the very beginning.

Re: Questions for those who got BFP's after Miscarriage
Bloodwork only for beta and progesterone checks. First appointment/sono was at 8 weeks like normal. It was torture waiting but I felt that an early sono (earlier than 8 weeks) would be pointless since I had one that went great with the pregnancy I miscarried. I didn't breathe until after my NT Scan. This pregnancy is still torture at 17 weeks. It's not as easy to enjoy after a loss.

Re: Questions for those who got BFP's after Miscarriage
I had a m/c between DS and my twins. When i was pregnant with the twins the doctor had me come in every few days in the beginning for bloodwork and then a sono at 7w and every 2 weeks after that for a bit.

Re: Questions for those who got BFP's after Miscarriage
yes for all. I had 2 miscarraiges....after my second I got pg 3 weeks later. I was monitored every step of the way. Hormones, HCG, progesterone, sonos. I was in such bad mental shape...so much anxiety...I would freak out constantly. Ended up with a healthy baby. I know the angst you are in right now....hang in there and think all good things.

Re: Questions for those who got BFP's after Miscarriage
No for me. In fact I only had one BETA test done at 6wks...Im 9wks 2 days now and have not had another. I did have a sono done at 6wks because my BETA numbers came back good but I wasnt seen earlier or anything because of the MC.

Re: Questions for those who got BFP's after Miscarriage
Yes -- they saw me at 4weeks 3 days did a sono to look at my lining, took blood, and I go back at 5w5days for another sono, and will be seen weekly
They took blood on Monday and i just got the results (hcg 460 and progesterone 32.7) I have no idea what these #'s mean.

Re: Questions for those who got BFP's after Miscarriage
No. They didn't do anything like that for me.
After my D&C I came back for a check a week or 2 later and they never did tests or anything. Just looked me over.
When I got my BFP not quite 2 months later, they just scheduled me like normal - maybe when I figured to be about 7-8 weeks.
I asked at my first appt if I was considered "high risk" or if I needed anything extra and they said no.

Re: Questions for those who got BFP's after Miscarriage
Mine doesn't do anything just apt/sono after 8 weeks. You can come earlier if you want no sono. No beta. Progesterone blood work but only because I've had low before. I don't know if I should find new doctors or if this is better for me since I won't be sleeping anyway!

Re: Questions for those who got BFP's after Miscarriage
I just spoke about this with my doctor last week and she told me that as soon as I get my BFP to start coming in for bloodwork to monitor the pregnancy (for my sake).

Re: Questions for those who got BFP's after Miscarriage
I think it changed a little for me. With my first pregnancy, I had one blood test to confirm pregnancy, then scheduled an u/s for 8 weeks. Due to me being out of town, it was scheduled for 8.5 weeks and I had m/c while out of town.
My cycle never regulated after that - I'd have cycles that were 40, 50, 60 days long. So, being "late" wasn't in my vocabulary. I found out I was pregnant with at 6+ weeks and they scheduled a blood test and u/s for same day which ended up being at 7 weeks. I went back for another at 9 weeks. So, that was one extra u/s based on my history.
Fast forward 2 years and I got pregnant again and called but they wouldn't bring me in for a blood test or u/s until 8 weeks. That was so hard having to wait! I ended up going in and there was no heartbeat and I had a m/c two days later.
I then tried for a few months unsuccessfully and moved on to an RE. So, this pregnancy (I'm 10.5 weeks), was monitored very closely - 3 blood tests, u/s at 6.5 weeks and 8.5 weeks. Then moved back to OB and had another u/s at 9 weeks.
Good Luck!!!

Re: Questions for those who got BFP's after Miscarriage
Yes. I had 2 miscarriages, and this time when I was pregnant, I was able to go in the day after my BFP (I was 4 weeks). They took my blood and I came in again a couple days after to make sure my numbers were going up. I also went weekly for sonos until we saw my DD's heartbeat.

Re: Questions for those who got BFP's after Miscarriage
Yes for insurance purposes they call it a "viability" scan. It's done at our office at 6wks and then you come back for your normal 8-10wks dating u/s and appointment. They did not do betas on me, but at the 8wks appointment they did blood work to test the progesterone. I knew it was low with the baby I lost so as a precaution I always started progesterone as soon as I got a BFP, and in both of the pregnancies following that m/c I have maintained the preg. Emmy was delivered at 36w2d and I am 30w2d now.
