questions from a new mom
hi my twins are 2 wkas old. i know its too early for a real schedule but i am workgin on gettign them towards one. they eat about every 3 hours and take turns sleeping and eating well. overall they arent overly hard but as you all can relate to there are two which is what makes it hard. can anyone walk me thru their days so i can learn some tips as to how to manage? like they are eatign 1.5-3 oz each feeding. usually 2 oz at a time. so i fill water in the bottles and them mix the formula as they need it. when they seem to want more i add .5 oz and eye it which is a PITA as i am estimating. sometimes i make the 2.5 but those are the times they usually dont want it. i have 3 floors so i try ot keep somethign on each floor but its hard.they are pretty much on 2 floors. so at night i bring up all the bottles for the night. how do you handle it?
does anyone follow the baby whisperer?
do you wake up your babies to eat ever? how long would you let thenm go w/o eating if they didnt wake up?
also one baby hasnt pooped in almost 2 days and seems a littl unconfortBLE. is there anythign i can do? my baby nurse who is gone said they can go 3 days but ideally would poop every day.
also does anyone have pets? i have 3 cats and its hard b.c the cats are really good but i am still a little concerned they may accidently hurt the babies. at night its fine b.c the babies are in a closed room but during the day its hard if one baby is up and the other is still sleeping. i want to brign the boys down to the living room for the day but then i cant really leave the area. i am thinking of keeping thr cats on a floor for part of the day just so i can have some time that i can comfortable leave the room if they are napping in their PNP.
i am tryign to care for them but when im alone and they both need somethign its really hard. im just tryign to learn from others who have been thru it.
thanks!

A: I always had the bottles pre-made and in a bottle chiller and warmed it at meal time overnight. I used Ready to Feed so if some went to waste b/c they didn't want it, I diidn't stress about it.
does anyone follow the baby whisperer?
A: I read it but I didn't really follow it. In the beginning I just followed an every 3 hour schedule for eating and whenever they slept, they slept. I didn't create a real nap schedule until they were between 4-5 months old. A great sleep book is "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Baby."
do you wake up your babies to eat ever? how long would you let thenm go w/o eating if they didnt wake up?
A:I always woke them to eat in the beginning so that we kept on schedule.
also one baby hasnt pooped in almost 2 days and seems a littl unconfortBLE. is there anythign i can do? my baby nurse who is gone said they can go 3 days but ideally would poop every day.
A:We never had constipation issues but I'd just speak to your ped for advice

A:No pets so I can't help here.
i am tryign to care for them but when im alone and they both need somethign its really hard. im just tryign to learn from others who have been thru it.
A:There will be times when both babies are unhappy. Just tend to the one in immediate distress and try to rub the back or touch the other one to soothe them too. Swings work wonders or a bouncy seats for those times when you feeel like you need another set of arms.
Good luck - you're doing great!

A: I used Ready to Feed so if some went to waste b/c they didn't want it, I diidn't stress about it. This will save you time and stress. Also, if the babies were on RTF in the hospital, the powder may be a little too thin for them and you may see that they eat more.
does anyone follow the baby whisperer?
A: No, I didn't at all. I really did a feed on demand in the beginning and then when they were a few months older, I had them on a feed/sleep schedule. I also recomment "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Baby"after I read this, I had even more success with my son sleeping.
do you wake up your babies to eat ever? how long would you let thenm go w/o eating if they didnt wake up?
A:No, I did demand feeding.
also one baby hasnt pooped in almost 2 days and seems a littl unconfortBLE. is there anythign i can do? my baby nurse who is gone said they can go 3 days but ideally would poop every day.
A:You can stimulate the anus with the thermometer and vaseline. This usually helps them along.
also does anyone have pets? A: I have a 90 lb dog. I was very nervous in the beginning with her, bit she loves the babies and is really good with them. In fact, she sleeps right by their crib at night.
i am tryign to care for them but when im alone and they both need somethign its really hard. im just tryign to learn from others who have been thru it.
A: I second this response. There will be times when both babies are unhappy. Just tend to the one in immediate distress and try to rub the back or touch the other one to soothe them too. Swings work wonders or a bouncy seats for those times when you feel like you need another set of arms.
Having twins is really hard work! You are doing a great job! I also found that once I felt comfortable proping the bottle, things were a bit easier.
I also wish that I used the swing a lot earlier. I was a little nervous, but they really could have gone in the swing from birth!
