Questions re 3 hour glucose test
I took the 1 hour on Saturday. I had a doctor's appointment yesterday and found out I failed. Ugh. Looking back at an old post, I realized that I actually got the same number (154) on the 1 hour as I did with DS so I'm hoping I pass the 3 hour again.
I forget the specifics with the 3 hour test. Is the drink the same or is there more of it? I have a lot of trouble getting through those 5 minutes. That drink is disgusting.
I know I can have water before the test, but can I drink any water during those 3 hours?
Did anyone get a lock at the beginning of the test to avoid multiple blood draws? I have terrible veins and I mentioned my awful experience with the 3 hour to the nurse. She suggested telling the lab about this and seeing if they could do a lock.
How did you feel after the 3 hour? I remember being really hungry last time, but that's about it. If you went to work after the test, were you ok?

Re: Questions re 3 hour glucose test
I took the 3 hour in 2 of my 3 pregnancies. Every doctor and lab is different, so I would check!
For my 3 hour, the drink is a more concentrated drink. I think it has slighter more glucose. I always ask for it cold and my OB's office keeps it in the fridge (I don't have to go to a lab, my OB's office does it). I didn't find it terrible, just a really sweet flat orange soda-like taste.
My OB tells me no water before and during! But I know some say its ok.
The nurse at my OB's office is excellent in drawing blood, so I didn't have any issues. I had a fasting draw, drank the drink, that had blood drawn each hour after that. When it was all over, I was more tired than anything. The hunger feeling and slight nausea feeling passed the longer I sat.. I had a snack and drink waiting with me, so I had it as soon as I finished.
Good Luck!!

Re: Questions re 3 hour glucose test
I couldn't have any water during the test. Didn't know a lck was an option....I also have terrible veins and had bruising for ays when it was over. I felt incredibly nauseated during and had a terrible headache afterwards. I had every intention of working after the test, but felt so badly that I sept for four hours after the test. Good luck with it!

Re: Questions re 3 hour glucose test
i just had one and it was more drink thank before. I didnt find it too bad to drink since I dont really drink soda. I actually had a sugar high till 4pm before I felt like I was crashing. I was not allowed to drink anything after that drink. Good luck.

Re: Questions re 3 hour glucose test
I recently took it and had to fast from the night before and that included no water. The drink at the lab was gross, had no option since they only had the lemon/lime one but, did it. I was at Quest and the ladies were real nice and Im scared of needles and it was easier then I thought. Just hurt alittle more each time they drew blood.
