Quick work issue/question

My boss and I are corresponding back and forth over email about a budget issue for one our grantees. I've spoken with the #2 person (who really has control over the prez.) and she agrees with me and not with the boss. She's planning to talk to the boss either today or Monday about it. Well, I got another email this morning plus a paper on my desk from my boss again reasserting her opinion. Now, I don't know if I should let it go and let #2 handle it (she will regardless of my response) - or respond so she knows how I feel too - the thing is though my boss is tempermental and I don't want to be seen as saying "No, you're still wrong" - add to the fact that I gave notice and am leaving next week - I don't want to add insult to injury.

THis is so long for something so stupid, but can you give me your opinions on whether I respond or let it go? I'm PMSing and cannot think clearly.

I should add that #2 will mention to the boss that I agree with her when they speak.

I definitely think you can state your opinion / thoughts without coming off as insulting. It's all about the tone of your voice, etc. You don't want to leave on bad terms but of course you want to state your opinion - just say, "I can understand your POV (boss), however, here are my thoughts". I wouldn't mention that #2 agrees with you. Let him / her say that to your boss.

honestly-- you gave notice already... if #2 is the one who is going to really fight the fight-- let her know you are there to help... but just let her do it.

Re: Quick work issue/question

Thanks for the adice. I ended up sending a good email to her which resulted in her usual - she came to my office to tell me how she is still right, blah, blah, blah - oh well, I made her happy after by talking about her daughter. I just still want to still get a good reference for the future.
