Your MIL's opinion doesn't matter on this. It's up to you and your husband. If you both want you to do it, then go for it and enjoy.
Worry about maternity leave when it happens. To a large extent, you can't control when it happens - there's no guarantee you'll be pg as soon as you start trying.
Travel now before baby, especially if DH is supportive of it.
Personally, I wouldn't travel (except for business) without my FH -- but that's ME and this is YOU. Sounds like you and your DH are on board, so go for it.

Go! I lost my mom to breast cancer 6 years ago and would do anything to spend extra time with her and create new special memories like a trip like that. Don't worry about your DH. Every moment with your mom is precious. I'd give anything for even 5 more minutes with mine.
