Random facebook friend requests and messages?

Random facebook friend requests and messages?
So over the last two to three days I've gotten three friend requests from random people and one PM from a random person. All the people were men from countries outside of the US. This has never happened to to me before and to get all of these in a 2 day period just seems weird. Has this happened to anyone else before? I have my profile set to private but is there anything else I can do to protect my profile Etc?

Random facebook friend requests and messages?
Yes, I've been getting totally random friend requests recently - all from men outside of the US. (No messages, though). It does seem strange, but I just delete them. I don't know of any way to prevent it from happening

Make messages only from friends and change your add a friend setting and make it not everyone can request you. You can make it so no one can request you, or friends of friends— whatever you want to do.

Make messages only from friends and change your add a friend setting and make it not everyone can request you. You can make it so no one can request you, or friends of friends— whatever you want to do.
I wish I could but I sell stuff on the Facebook Buy Sell Groups so then people wouldn't be able to message me and they mostly message me instead of commenting on the post. Also I'm meeting new people in the neighborhood that then send me a friend request so then they wouldn't be able to do that either. I'm going to try to look into it a little bit to see what I can do. I'm thinking other than what you suggested I can't do much other than delete their requests.

Create a separate profile just for the buy/sell account.
Keep your personal one just that, personal.

The people in the selling groups can still message you if the listing is set up in "selling format"'.
I never get weird messages or requests because my stuff is set to friends or friends of friends only
