Random Vent: Where's your kid for that parking spot Mister??
The Stop N Shop by me as a good number of spots marked as "Parking for Customers with Infants"
Its up front and makes it easier to get in and out of the store with the stroller, etc.
Its ALWAYS full. I always glare at the single guys and sashaying women who hope out of their two door sports car with no backseat.
I know I know bad me what if they are just running an errand for their kid, etc.
But really man.. we went to the store last night and as Jim and I were taking AJ out and getting all the stuff this loud car pulls up super fast by us.
Now mind you, I drive fast and I own a sports car myself.. I'm even in a few car clubs etc. Still even BEFORE i had AJ I always took caution around kids.
So the time it took for us to buckle AJ into her stroller this young woman gets out and sashays inside..
It actually upset me.. where's your kid for that spot? I think its rude as HELL that people take those spots for families with infants. Why am I the ONLY one who follows the rules??
Ok.. vent over
*hops off soapbox*

Re: Random Vent: Where's your kid for that parking spot Mister??
No, you aren't the only one who follows the rules. I rarely park in these spaces, eventhough I have a child since they are usually mobbed. Also, I only have one child, and he's not too hard ot manage at this point, so I don't mind wlaking. But yeah, I see people without kids getting in and out of those spaces often.
What really annoys me though are the people who park in the fire lane and block curb cut access. I mean, how lazy can you get? Especially when there are spaces available? Some chick in a BMW did it this weekend and I saw an elderly woman with a walker have to navigate all the way around her car. I wish there was a PO around.

that's HORRIBLE!
I saw someone do this last night too. We made a quick stop at another store and Jim got out to get what we needed. I kept driving around. There was this car just parked in the fire lane... PARKED no one in it.. hazards on. It was there the whole time. Gimme a break, there was a TON of parking up front. it was so unnecessary!

Re: Random Vent: Where's your kid for that parking spot Mister??
This happened the other day at Babies R Us, not to me, but to another woman. I had parked a few spots away from the "Stork Parking" and that spot was open. Two cars basically pulled to the spot at the same time and the woman that took it was like a 30 year old woman with her business suit and heels. I felt SO bad for the other woman who had to be close to her due date and she was really struggling.

I have actually yelled at men for this. It used to PIZZ ME OFF when I was preggers and would go to BRU and they would park in the designated spots.

I HATE HATE HATE these people !! Stop being so damn lazy and have some common courtesy !!
First of all a$$hole, it doesn't COUNT unless your KID is WITH you - you don't get to park there JUST b/c you're a parent -
Andthe 'expectant mothers' spots........Yeah, sure, technically, if you're 2 or 3 or 4 months PG, yes, you're expecting - but really ??? You can't walk your a$$ a few extra feet and leave that spot open for the woman who's 38 weeks PG ?? KWIM ???

just keep in mind you can't always tell how far along someone is. i was asked on my due date last year if i was pregnant by my neighbor i didn't really show until 6-7 months, and even then just looked pretty fat--not pregnant. you wouldn't have thought i was 7 months pregnant at that point if you saw me get out of stork parking at BRU! but i had the swollen ankles to prove it!
to the OP--that is so obnoxious. men and women without kids shouldn't be in those spots. give me a break!

Eh - I guess. But honestly, I still think it's rude to take that spot from a REALLY pregnant, uncomfortable, struggling 30 something week woman when you don't really NEED it - KWIM ?? (not to say "you" - just you in general terms)
I honestly think that one irks me MORE b/c it's another PG woman doing it -

but that's the whole thing--you CAN'T possibly tell just by looking at someone all of the time. you also can't judge who "really" needs it. not everyone starts off their pregnancy stick thin so pregnancy is obvious. like i said, i was asked ON my due date if i was pregnant. so you might judge me to not be worthy, but i was just as pregnant as any other woman.
there's no such thing as just a little pregnant. you either are or aren't. obviously there are always people who abuse things--as stated by the OP. but you just can't always judge by looking at someone--especially now in the winter when everyone is bundled in coats.
i know you were speaking in general terms, but this really hits home to me because of how i looked during pregnancy.

Why would it matter how far along you are? In the beginning of my pregnancy my heart rate would go up high when I was walking any distance. I tried to keep walking to a minimum, so I parked in those spots even when I was only 2 months! Expecting = Expecting in my opinion, 2 weeks along or 38 weeks along!~

Honestly, its a nice thing to have and lord knows I used it when I needed it at all stages of my pregnancy, BUT those spots are courtesy spots and I would imagine not sanctioned by laws the way handicapped parking is. I doubt a car could be towed or ticketed in a stork spot.

ITA with this. Those spots are a courtesy.... and sadly, there are tons of people in the world who just are not courteous. Nothing you can do about it. And I totally disagree w/ the whole judging who "deserves" the spot and who doesnt thing.

Re: Random Vent: Where's your kid for that parking spot Mister??
I'm 33w in my 2nd pregnancy with an 18 month old in tow. I park wherever I can find a spot, and I don't mind walking unless it's bad weather. It's nice that they have them at BRU and BBB, but let's face it....the majority of the people shopping in those stores on a given day are either pregnant or with small children and there are only a few of those spots. It's nice when they are available, but to me, it's not a huge deal if they are taken (regardless of who parked there). JMHO.

Re: Random Vent: Where's your kid for that parking spot Mister??
I was just thinking about this last week. Everytime I go there with my two kids, now 3 and 1, it drives me crazy. What bothers me most about stuff like that is that I respect things like that. It bugs me that people, in general, don't respect the courtesies given to people with special circumstances.
