Rash on belly, chest and back UPDATE: He threw up again this morning
I don't know what is going on with Derek.
He threw up last Friday night. Was fine Saturday through Monday. Tuesday he came down with a fever, never going over 102.5. Also some diarrhea but eating and acting normal. He hasn't had a fever since this past Friday. I just put him I the bath and noticed a rash all over his chest, belly and back.
My 4 yr old has a stomach bug also. Fever and vomiting went away but he still has stomach pains and green diarrhea I'm not sure they have the same thing going on.
I was thinking Roseola but aren't the fevers usually over 103? The only other thing I can think of is my 4 yr old got the measles vaccine 2 weeks ago although they say it cant shed. And my mom had the shingles vaccine but I didn't let her arou.nd the kids for a week. Is it possible he picked up a mild case of either of those things?
UPDATE 3/21
The rash seems to be fading, but he has HORRIBLE diarrhea and vomitted this morning. This has been going on for almost 10 days now. We've been to the ped twice. I am starting to get worried. He seemed like he was back to normal.

I just checked him closer and it's on the inside of his arms and spreading down his legs.

Re: Rash on belly, chest and back
Did he see the ped? I know there was a strain of strep going around siblings of DD#1 class. I had her tested when she was sick last week but it was negative. They had vomiting, fever, rashes. I know my old ped used to say some kids just get rashes after viruses. If you are concerned it never hurts to call the ped.

We were at the ped on Friday and his fever was already gone. He did test my older DS for strep but it was negative.
I am waiting for a call back from my ped. I bet it was Roseola.

Re: Rash on belly, chest and back
My DD had roseola about a month ago and it was 103-104 fevers for 3 days.
She also was sick a few weeks ago with a "virus"- diarrhea, fever etc and then got a funny rash. Ped said it was a viral rash and rashes are common following viruses...

Re: Rash on belly, chest and back
I'm going through the same exact thing right now. My daughter was diagnosed with a "non-specific" virus on Thursday. She had a fever wed night, all day Thursday and it finally broke sometime Friday. On Saturday morning, my husband called me at work, worried, that she was starting to break out in giant hives. By the time I got home it was honestly difficult to look at her.
Anyway, bottom line, the doctor said that this is the last stage of the virus and could last three days. He told me to give benedryl if the rash itches or puts her into any discomfort.
Hope your child feels better soon!!!

Not sure if that's it but Nate's fevers never topped 102 when he had roseola.

Thanks! My ped just called and told me the same. The fevers don't necessarily have to be high with Roseola. And if its not specifically Roseola, it can just be a rash that some kids get after a viral infection. Its not itching him or bothering him.

James had Roseola right after his first birthday and his fever never went over 102 either.

Did he get the fever on his head at all? The rash isn't on his face, but I see some along his hairline and neck.

I want to say he had maybe a few dots on his cheeks/forehead? It was concentrated on his belly, back and arms.
