Rash or reaction to amoxycillin?

Derek has been on amoxycillin since Tuesday for an ear infection. He no longer has a fever and is acting normal. I noticed today he has pink, pin prick type spots all over his belly, upper chest, inside of his elbows and some on his back. None on his face or legs.

I called the dr. to see if it was a reaction or maybe something else. It almost looks like prickly heat, but would a baby get that in the winter?

Did anyone else's DC have this reaction to antibiotics?

Yes. It was called an "amoxicillian rash". It wasn't itchy though. The ped said it was not considered an allergic reaction but more like a possible side effect.

DS had exactly this ALL over his body after being on Augmentin for a week, but the spots were slightly larger than a pinprick. My ped considered it an allergic reaction. DH is also allergic to amoxicillin.

ETA: I didn't realize it could be considered non-allergic. Is there testing or something he can have done to confirm this?
