While I do agree with your opinion, imagine what what these poor PEOPLE must have been feeling being thrown out of their Home in the middle of the night and also being put on TV how Devastating & Humiliating!I mean these are human beings(They Bleed, eat, sleep, and go to the bathroom just like the rest of us)They should have been given fair notice that this was gonna happen and then take the proper action that needed to be taken!Steve Levy should be ashamed of himself for this I hope these people have Shelter & food like any Human Being should have!
but they LIVE ILLEGALY!!! THEY DON'T BELONG HERE! Come here legally and its different!
I can bet my life that you & dh know where some of these Illegal people live, why not help Steve Levey out I mean you are soooo against it all people being Free!
Actually I am. I have been campaigning to my local legislation for months now about an overcrowded house in my neighborhood. A four bedroom house is now packed with over 20 residents. The law says it's two per bedroom. So guess where these people are living?? In hallways, garages, wherever they can. Sorry I can't have a bleeding heart reaction to this situation but it's MY town and MY tax dollars that are being affected. I cringe everytime a house goes up for sale in my neighborhood because block after block, we are being invaded (like Farmingville) with someone who turns it into a rental nightmare for the residents of the community. I'm so sick of living on Long Island, between the illegal situation, the taxes and the litter. How can anyone look at the big picture here and be happy? I drove up Portion Road on Sunday morning and they were running all over like cockroaches. In every corner, on every street corner, in front of every doorway. Cutting in front of moving cars, running for the trucks stopped on the side of the road. Hundreds and hundreds of men. It left a pit in my stomach that this is our new "Island". I don't want to raise my kid/kids here.

I agree. My DH is a Landscaper and will ONLY hire Legal immigrants, and he pays them on the books, and probably one of the very few contractors who pays workman's comp for them. They are HARD workers, and he will NEVER hire an american to work for him again, because they were so lazy.

Re: Re: the housing situation in Farmingville
This is a very touchy subject for me since I am Latina and the ones being targeted are Latinos. It's difficult because many of these people do come to this country for a better way of life and end up in these situations. Many of these people don't want to be here illegal but have no choice because there are no programs that allow them to get a legal status in this country. I think the biggest part of the problem is that these people do work and work harder than most of us. The reality is that they do the work no American is willing to do for disgusting wages. Tyson Chicken was involved in a scandal recently because they were hiring mostly "illegals"They can't pay taxes because they have no socials. I know there have been talks of work permits or some way of legalization or an amnesty but that's just a hot topic to win votes. The borders are out of control, but if you do the research only a small percentage of money is applied towards border patrol. Until our political leaders gets serious about this issue, it will only get worse.

I think that it's a little ignorant of us to think "well, that's the law, and we have to abide by it", because when one is desperate (as I'm sure many illegals are), they'll do anything. For example, if I was poor, and couldn't afford the medication my sick child needed to survive, I would do ANYTHING to make sure that I can get it. I would even steal the medication, if I had to.

what bothers me so much is that they are evicting the illegal immigrants, but not DEPORTING them...that burns me up
ANd the WHole Day Laborers thing is out of control...
They are a lot of illegal immigrants who get picked up by landscapers, contractors, etc and get Paid CASH...the people who use them for work are just as guilty...
Its totally disgusting to go past the 7-11 in Southampton and see the garbage and crap that is left out by the day laborer people..as well as 50-100 guys just hanging out on the fences, corners, grass, etc...
AMEN!
