re: wall color.. updated with daytime pics of the room

DH is adamant about keeping the wall the color it is and I hate it.. It doesn't match AT ALL and I think it looks horrible! Granted, we will be putting up a big picture there and it will take up "some" of the wall, but I think we should change the color.... HELP!! What do you think?

UPDATE:
Ok so I took new pics with daytime light because the ones I had up really didn't show the true color.
I actually think I don't hate it anymore Chat Icon Chat Icon
Just need to get a really big painting in there!

I'd keep it in the same color family, just tone it down a notch or two! Chat Icon

I agree. It seems a little too gold for the room/furniture, but I would stay to the same color family, but less tone.

Re: POLL re: wall color..

I want to edit this to say that it's not THAT orange in real life, but it is gold-ish ... the other wall matches the chairs to a "t" which is why I think we need to tone this wall down a bit. DH seems to think that once we have things hanging on the wall it will look better. I disagree Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon (Unless we are covering up 3/4 of the wall!) Chat Icon

I agree that it needs to be toned down but it isn't that bad...

Re: POLL re: wall color..

is it just that wall? honestly I dont think its that bad! just paint the other walls a more "toned-down" color so that will be the accent wall!

yea it's just this wall. i'm actually getting used to it. we are ordering a really big painting that has beige, yellows and browns so it will compliment both the table, chairs and the wall.

just a thought, perhaps you might want to get a painting with bolder colors so that the picture will be the focal point and not the wall-with a large picture that has toned down colors, the wall color will stand out more.

btw, the poster above me said the wall color doesnt match your furniture,
i have to disagree-from what i remember, your furniture was a dark colored wood, wasnt it?
What color would match better than that?!
I think it goes great....I am an interioir decorator and the color of your wall is actually one of the hottest color trends...bright,bold jeweled toned colors are SO in!

AWW Thanks! I actually took new pics of the room with direct sunlight and am going to post them up so you can see the true color of the wall. We found a great pic (which is really big) that we think might look good in the room and will be the main focal point Chat Icon

Re: re: wall color.. updated with daytime pics of the room

The gold color isn't that bad at all. I like it and it looks like a nice faux finish from the picture. I think it goes fine with your dining room set. My problem with it is that it clashes with the other wall color, which looks like a rosy beige compared to the yellow/gold beige of the wall in question.

Just an idea- what about painting over the rosy beige instead, maybe with a rust, yellow or more complementary cream color?

My camera must suck! The other walls in the room are cream Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I also think these pics are coming out the way they are because the first ones I took at night.

My one friend thought the chairs were grey!! Ok I think it's time for a new camera!!!!!External Image

That's funny! Colors can look really different when you take a picture and also depending on our computer screens too, I imagine. So, if you think the two colors really do coordinate in person, then I'd vote to keep the gold wall! I like it.

I actually think it looks great - especially w/ your chandelier and furniture.

Re: re: wall color.. updated with daytime pics of the room

can you change the placement of the table and add a china cabinet or buffet on the accent wall? i think if you add these pieces as well as art and/or a mirror (depending on the furniture piece) it wouldn't be so bold. i would also add an area rug and window panels to bring in some more color. complete the look w/ a centerpiece of candles and/or vases of flowers and chandelier shades and a chandelier sleeve .

Re: re: wall color.. updated with daytime pics of the room

I like it, kinda, but I don't think the tone of the one wall goes with the off-white, beigey color of the other walls. So I would still change the color.
