Reading comments by people on Cnn and this one caught my eye on why wont the President Negotiate....
Reasonable Man • 2 hours ago• 213 ?8 ?- +
?Why won't the President negotiate? Let's see... Oct 2008: "You'll never get elected and pass healthcare." Nov 2008: "We'll never let you pass healthcare." Jan 2009: "We're gonna shout you down every time you try to pass healthcare." July 2009: "We'll fight to death every attempt you make to pass healthcare." Dec 2009: "We will destroy you if you even consider passing healthcare." March 2010: "We can't believe you just passed healthcare." April 2010: "We are going to overturn healthcare." Sept 2010: "We are going to repeal healthcare." Jan 2011: "We are going to destroy healthcare." Feb 2012: "We're gonna elect a candidate who'll revoke healthcare NOW." June 2012: "We'll go to the Supreme Court, and they will overturn healthcare." Aug 2012: "American people'll never re-elect you-they don't want healthcare." Oct 2012: "We can't wait to win the election and explode healthcare." Nov 2012: "We can't believe you got re-elected & we can't repeal healthcare." Feb 2013: "We're still going to vote to obliterate healthcare." June 2013: "We can't believe the Supreme Court just upheld healthcare." July 2013: "We're going to vote like 35 more times to erase healthcare." Sept 2013: "We are going to leverage a government shutdown into defunding, destroying, obliterating, overturning, repealing, dismantling, erasing and ripping apart healthcare." Oct 2013: "WHY AREN'T YOU NEGOTIATING???"

It's so ridiculous. Millions of dollars wasted in attempts to repeal this LAW. Such a waste of time.

The whole thing is just such a shameful situation. One of the things that scares me the most is that the FDA is furloughed so guess what's not getting inspected? OUR FOOD! Not that they gave two shits about food quality in the first place, but what's gonna happen when we start getting sick from contaminated food?!?

Re: Reading comments by people on Cnn and this one caught my eye on why wont the President Negotiate....
Kind of sad that our president is so prideful he can't negotiate with the people who were elected to represent Americans concerns. Obamacare that they want to DELAY is not the same one voted on originally. It has been changed multiple times and even by the president himself (without the vote process). There are companies suing the prez for that reason because he can't make or change laws. I see no issue with delaying it, it's been delayed for certain institutions and not others, it is mandatory for us but not the govt. if it the law if the land fix it and move ahead. Don't waste more of our money reading/understanding it later. But w/o talking, it just shows pure narcissism. If its not the dems way it's the highway. That's how it got voted in the first place, bi partisanship is non-existent on this subject so no negotiations. The prez has spoken lol. Sad place for the US.

Re: Reading comments by people on Cnn and this one caught my eye on why wont the President Negotiate....
Im pretty sure the president also represents the people
the people have spoken- we don't want the affordable care act delayed
he is standing up for us in my eyes
why should it be delayed? oh wait- the republicans are scared to dealth it's going to be a success
Boehner himself said a few months ago and I quote "Obamacare is the law of the land"
I watched George S on This Week pull out some great video clips with the Speaker contidicting himself
We elected Obama twice - they tried to repeal this 42 times or something- MOVE ON
NEXT....stop wasting OUR money and costing OUR country lost revenue

This is my point exactly.
The Congressmen were elected as well so "their" people's opinion's don't county. Our government has 3 branches, all equally important. Do we ignore one branch because they don't see eye to eye...and hey lets not even talk to them.
He is acting very poorly in my eyes. Reminds me of the redline he drew for Syria and made a fool of himself when he had to hold to his words but no one supported him. He still kept that going, thank goodness for him this shutdown happened.
I could pull out REALLY great clips of the prez contradicting himself, there are still a whole lot of promises out there.
I feel that delaying Obamacare IS what the people want. Have you seen the polls? Have you read about the unions and the businesses fighting this? They need time so "Some" of these companies were allowed a delay. Why not all, why be selective? Because the law is not completely figured out, so why not delay. Forget delay, why not talk about it?

I will be seriously disappointed if the Senate and the President give in to these childish acts of Boehner and his cronies.
It is known that if Boehner would just bring the clean CR to a vote, it will pass but he's refusing to do so. I hope America wakes up and cleans house in 2014. This is ridiculous.

When Obama was elected Mitch McConnell said his goal was to make Obama a one term president. That attitude is shared by most Republicans. They aren't doing their jobs- they only want to get in the way of most of what Obama wants to do. Why should he negotiate with them? They never had any intention of doing the same.

Unfortunately in some districts the gerrymandering is out of control. So many of these congressmen and women, who I think are wholly unfit to be in these positions, will most likely still be re-elected when the time comes. It's a joke.
Negotiation time is over. Voted into law, upheld by the Supreme Court. I'm confident that the nine justices of the SC have a far, far better grasp of the Constitution than the many members of Congress that claim to carry a copy of it in their pockets.

From the day Obama was elected the first time, the Republicans made it public knowledge that the most important goal was ensuring that Obama only had one-term. Really? Nothing else more important to them than blocking him every step of the way? The economy? Multiple wars?
I am a registered Republican and am truly ashamed of what my party has become. They allowed an extremist fraction of the party to call the shots for too long and now this is where we are. Disgusting.

While I'm sure the ACA is great for some, there are many that don't want to be forced into it, but in order for it to work, the government HAS to force it on all people. They need the young healthy people to sign up to pay for the older generations and people w/ pre existing conditions...otherwise the system crumbles on itself.
However, this did not stop the president from deciding (on his own, with no vote) to delay the Employer Mandate for big business...basically the businesses that have strong lobbyists and that helped him to get elected. Why does the president have the power to say that this law has to apply for some but not all? Not to mention all the Congress, and Unions that got exempted from the law altogether.
The Republicans proposed delaying the individual mandate (meaning NOT FORCING people to sign up, but still leaving the option for people who DO want to sign up), just like the president delayed the employer mandate. This seemed like a reasonable compromise to me.

so now the democrats are the party of big business and the republicans are the party of the people
people don't want health insurace? who are these people? the 62% of people who filed BK b/c of medical bills
the people who show up at the ER to be treated and don't pay (which we all pay for)
things needed to change- this law didn't happen over night- why wait until the day before it goes into effect to try to stop it?
oh that's right the 800 other times failed!
Next issue please- we have plenty of them

Yes, it was passed along party lines (no republican votes), when the Democrats held the majority in both houses, by a Congress that admittedly didn't read all of it, and passed it just to appease the president. The same congress that could have passed a BUDGET when they were in complete control, but failed to do so...
I'm not 100% against the ACA, and I am against the shutdown... But I do think that some aspects of ACA are unfair, and I do wish a compromise would be made!

It was also upheld by a conservative SCOTUS.
ETA: And no matter how many times a the current Republican majority in the House tries to repeal it (I believe it's now up to 42), they still can't get it done.
