Ready to Feed Vs. Concentrate Formula

I switched my DD from nutramigen RTF to nutramigen concentrate since that was what WIC approved and powder didnt work for her. Yet again, screaming in pain, not finishing her bottles and now she is back on RTF and is happy as a clam. WIC doesnt cover nutramigen RTF... oy. Has anyone's DC agreed better with the RTF vs. the concentrate? If its the same brand formula why would there be a difference in the child? Chat Icon

How long did you go before you switched back? Sometimes they have to get used to it.

ETA: No offense, but are you making the concentrate correctly? I never saw much of a difference between that and the RTFChat Icon

I did it for 2 days and noticed a difference in the first bottle but continued it anyway and it only worsened. We had such a rough time on the last few formulas and the RTF was the only one which she seems to agree with. I might try it again next week or something. I sterilized the water and with one can you mix one can so its equal parts and i did it exact cause I didnt want to cause any problems. (no offense taken either! Chat Icon )

Re: Ready to Feed Vs. Concentrate Formula

I use both RTF and powder Enfamil. DD started off with RTF and then we introduced powder when she was about 2 months. Now we do powder during the day and RTF at night. We notice that the RTF is thicker and helps her sleep through the night versus the powder which is water based so it doesnt sit in her stomach for very long. Which makes her get up in the middle of the night looking for a bottle. It took a few days to get her used to powder. I'd say try again and see what happens.

Hoping she likes it the 2nd time around Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Ready to Feed Vs. Concentrate Formula

I havent' used concentrate but my DD gets constipated with RTF-and goes to the bathroom much better with powder so I only use that.

BTW I use Similac
