Real Housewives of NJ... Mob related....
How many of you believe that the NJ ladies families are apart of organized crime. Or what some call the Mob?

Hmm - I really don't know. The whole murder thing was a little suspicious to me. Then again, people assume my FIL is in the mob all the time - he is from Italy, has a cash business - used to have a trucking company years ago  lol "fuggedaboudit" haha! But, I get that ALL the time. He was so worried when Vin and I got engaged that my family was going to think that of him. He really is so hard working and honest - he would NEVER be a part of that. So, maybe they are being discriminated against like my FIL has been? I really don't know but the only thing that made me wonder was the murder situation and that it was unsolved.

I voted maybe.
I just find it hard to believe that Teresa can build that house and pay cash for everything while Joe just owns a construction company.
Catering facilities (the Brownstone) are also known as "waste management" if you know what I mean.
I read that Caroline & Dina's father in law was killed in an "mob-related" incident but they deny any connections.
I also think that Dina's hubby Tommy not appearing on the show may not only have to do with him wanting privacy.
BUT, think about it though if they were connected would they open their lives to millions of people?

they always say peoplpe who own catering halls and funeral parlors = mob  so i don't know what to think about that....not sure if that is always accurate...
my ex's dad owned a construction company, i think he totally wished he was in the mafia  but anyway i saw him with lots o cash....but he had no money in the bank

I always thought so but then I wonder why they would be on tv with all that exposure if there husbands were connected. But they also don't seem like the brightest bunch. Maybe the husbands are connected but on a very low level.
I def think that there is funny and illegal stuff going on and that's what everyone in Northern NJ believes also.

My Dhs grandfather owned 2 catering halls....and had nothing to do with the mob.
His uncle owns a very well known catering hall on LI...and hes not either.
You cant really go by that.

Up until last night I would have said no way, but after my DH did a google search of Albert "Tiny" Manzo and read to me what he found I can't help but think maybe. I don't know about now, but I would assume they were in the past. Either way I really don't care. Family is family no matter what, and no matter what may be involved you stand by them.

I don't think that is the reason why Dina's husband didnt want to be on the show. I dont know if you guys saw this, but back in 2007 Dina was on one of those lavish wedding shows I think on VH1, and her husband was seen in the episode several times.

I was just going to say this. I don't think he's avoiding being on the show b/c of mob ties, he was already on TV so that theory really doesn't hold water.
Also, really before the RHoNY the husbands barely plaid ANY role in the show.
We never met the GA crew's DHs and really the same thing for the OC.
Yes, they were pictured in the credits but that was really it unless something was going on that directly involved the husband.
I really don't understand why everyone is making such a big deal over the fact that Tommy Manzo didn't want to be on this show and why is it that there's an immediate connection to the mob made? 
I worked at a place that had some "shady" connections and the last thing these people wanted to do was bring attention to themselves, if the Manzos were really in the mob there'd be NO way in HELL they'd have done this show.

I said maybe. I just think that if any of them were really involved in the mob their husbands would not want them to do that show and have all of the coverage and speculation that comes with a show like that.
Do I think Teresa and her husband have some shady dealings with that construction business...YES!

Eh, maybe "big deal" is a poor choice of words...
But this question has been brought up on a few occasions and it just seems kind of odd to me.
Maybe b/c I'm a of Italian heritage it's something I'm sensitive too? I do have PMS so that could be my problem.

No I don't.
I don't think that just because the Manzo's FIL was murdered that means they're connected. I'm sure he was murdered by the Mob, but I grew up in a neighborhood where it was taken for granted that if you own a service business like a catering hall, you're going to "know" someone - that doesn't mean that you're connected.
In my neighborhood, you paid your dues and your business ran as smoothly as the economy would allow... you don't pay your dues and your business burns to the ground. And maybe the business next door for having the bad luck of being next door to you.
I think if they were truly connected they wouldn't be on the show. Their families wouldn't allow it.

Yeah,,but she was looking for money since her daddy was no longer producing it
ETA: I remember reading something in the paper from a Gotti family member that John Gotti was turning in his grave because his daughter and kids were on a show!! I am more than positive that Growing Up Gotti would never have happened had he been alive

ITA i think the fact that they have a huge successful business and know a lot of people has a lot to do with it. And IMO no "true" mobster would be on a reality show.
