If the families were involved they would of NEVER done the show!
People involved or connected do not bring attention to themselves.

Unless maybe their last name happens to be GOTTI!Chat Icon Chat Icon

Yeah,,but she was looking for money since her daddy was no longer producing itChat Icon
ETA: I remember reading something in the paper from a Gotti family member that John Gotti was turning in his grave because his daughter and kids were on a show!! I am more than positive that Growing Up Gotti would never have happened had he been alive

I have no doubt he would blow a gasket if he knew they had that show!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Real Housewives of NJ... Mob related....

Wow I'm really surprised the majority that responded to this question think the ladies are mob related. I guess if a person is Italian and has some money they must be mafia. I know that I shelled out over 20,000 grand to my catering hall for a Sat night in March. Most of halls are booked solid for the year (showers, christenings, commmunions, confirmations, weddings, events) and pulling in that kind of cash for many parties. 50-100,000K a week for 52 weeks translates into a lot of dough! SOOOO my point is that no one questions Zarin Fabrics, or the Singer's jewelry business, but the Manzo's and the Giudice's businesses can't be legitimate.
Teresa's husband is a contractor. They bought the land and are building their house over the span of three years. My friend's family is in demolition. They built their house and it took them over five years. The house is gorgeous but they certainly didn't pay what it would have cost them if they bought it already built. BTW they are Italian and not in the Mafia.

I guess the stereotype is alive and well.

I don't think it has so much to do with that the two families are of Italian descent but of the way the Albert Manzo died, and the way they act. You get the feeling that they watched a marathon of The Godfather series, Good Fellas, Married to the Mob (I swear sometimes Theresa acts as if she was an extra for this movie!) and the Sopranos and said "Ohhhhh, that's the way to act."
As for Zarin and Singer, they don't act the stereotype and they don't have past stories of their father-in-laws being stripped naked, stuffed into a trunk and shot for supposedly skimming from the Gambinos.

Re: Real Housewives of NJ... Mob related....

No, I don't believe they are in the mob.

BUT, I do believe they know many people in the mob, they are friendly with many mob people, and their FIL was killed because he had dealings with mob people, though he was not involved in the mob himself.

If they grew up around mob people, and this is the culture they have been exposed to, this type of behavior and attitude and thinking, yes, I have no doubt they would behave like them. But, they are not in the mob.

I think the father was in the mafia - not because he was italian and owned a catering hall-

but because he was found naked in the trunk of a lincoln shot. That to me stinks of the mafia.

I guess you know a lot more about the NJ mafia than I do.

I don't know them from a hole in the wall. They may very well be mafia. But I was surprised to see so many people that responded to this think they are in the mafia. Again I think that has more to do with stereotyping than anything else (jmo --- not trying to start anything).

To me they just look like wannabe Italians with exaggerated mannerisms.
From what I've seen on TV and heard of them I don't think they stink of the mob, but that's just my opinion.

Re: Real Housewives of NJ... Mob related....

there is no way that if they were "in the mob", they would go on a reality TV show. That's asking for a lot of attention for career criminals.

Re: Real Housewives of NJ... Mob related....

DH's grandfather was murdered...by the mob.

But it was because he refused to get involved, wouldn't pay "protection $$"....so that may be similar to the FIL's murder -- related to the mafia, yet not involved in it at all, KWIM??

Re: Real Housewives of NJ... Mob related....

no - I do not think that they are in the mob at all

they wouldn't go on the show if they were

I don't even think Carline's FIL was in the Mob- but a victim of a mob killing - most likely for not paying up or doing what they wanted
