Re: Real or Fake Christmas trees
Fake. My father is, and has been for 30+ years, in the fire service...and although the fire department holds a Real Christmas tree sale every year, at least in our department, I'd say aboug 50% of the people have fake trees. They've seen too many tragedies...
We always made traditions out of setting up and taking down the tree. We even made it a family event to go to Harrows every few years when the tree needed to be replaced....
So, I put up my fake tree and light my Yankee Candle (which i CAN remember to blow out).
I DO buy a real wreath...from the Fire Department...for the front door.

Re: Real or Fake Christmas trees
we have a fake pre-lit
i am psycho and i like everything to be symmetrical and i'd probably go nuts picking out a real tree i'd probably end up cutting it to "even" it out when we got it in the house and i'd probably also make a project out of stringing the lights b/c i'd want the lights perfect and even as well
i'd still love to try out a real tree - but not this year, too much going on....besides i don't even know if they have any nice real ones down in FL
but fake are easy to put up, easy to take down, pre-lit is so nice b.c you don't have to worry about stringing lights...and no mess, no watering....much less maintenance...

I don't know if I answered already or not - but we have a fake. I have pine scented plug-ins for the smell.

Re: Real or Fake Christmas trees
Oh this is my dilemma now
i've always had a real tree, always thought fake ones were just that.. fake DH is jewish, so he's gone along with whatever i've wanted to do. He likes the real tree and the smell. He always helps me decorate it too.
Last year was the first xmas in our new house and we got a real tree. I loved it, loved the smell, the look and the comfort of it. I hated the watering every day, and the needles after the clean up This year, i'm considering a fake tree because we won't be here for actual xmas since we're going to my relatives house for a few days. It's killing me because i've never had a fake tree and i feel like i'll lose part of the magic of christmas by getting one (i know thats silly but i can't help it).
DH said he wants a real one, and i'm still not sure. so we'll see!

Re: Real or Fake Christmas trees
We've had a fake one in the past and I've always had no problem with it. This is our first year in our house though and we are hosting Christmas so I'm thinking of maybe getting a real one...not sure yet though. My mom and DH's dad have it in our heads that real tree=fire. so we are both a little nervous about that.

Re: Real or Fake Christmas trees
We have a fake tree. We did have a real tree a couple of years but the needles drove me crazy. Also we were nervous about fires from the tree drying out, we like to decorate right after Thanksgiving.
