Really bad constipation issues with my 4.5 month old...
Poor Chase cannot poop like a normal baby, I swear. This poor thing is constipated 24/7. When he finally poops it's rock hard. We've cut down his formula intake, started veggies, prunes, pears and homemade oatmeal that has no extra iron in it. Given him pear and prune juice and plain ol' water. We've done all of these things for weeks on end and NOTHING is working He's always struggling to poop. Does anyone have any insight? Could it be from his formula? He's on gentlease. I was thinking maybe because it's broken down more that he could be absorbing a lot of it. I was just wondering if anyone uses anything on a regular basis for their constipated infant?

Yogurt and prunes every morning. I don't give cereal or any kind of grain in significant amounts, or bananas for that matter.
Try beans, like edamame. DS pooped twice today, it was like a miracle.
TMI, but I also have the issue since infancy, and beans make me go much more frequently. I try to get them in my diet often.

It sounds like you're doing everything my Ped recommended for DS. They told me not to start yogurt until... 9 months I think? I know some people start it at 6 months, but your DS is still younger than what I've heard recommended. I would ask your ped to see if they have any other recommendations

oh I should have mentioned we got the okay to start yogurt cause we switched DS to regular formula and he doesn't have any issues with milk. We actually got the okay at 5m. And started solids at 4m.
If not yogurt there are probiotics like BioGai that help with constipation. You don't need prescription, just ask pharmacists about it.
Somethings to talk to your ped about.
