Realtor Question
Hi! I had a question about the floors in our new home and I asked my agent to find out the answer from the sellers agent and she told me to call the owners. She has also told me to call the owners when scheduling estimates. I may be wrong here...but should I be the one contacting the sellers? I feel uncomfortable doing that and feel that the agent should be doing it for me. Am I wrong? Not sure how it usually works.
Thanks!

Re: Realtor Question
Ok - you should NEVER be allowed to contact the sellers. That is just bizarre. The realtor should contact their realtor - end of story.
I can't believe she would even suggest that you call them.

Re: Realtor Question
You already bought the house?
I think if you already closed and you're moved in then why not contact the sellers yourself to ask a question. If you don't own the house yet, then yes all questions should go through the REA's.

Re: Realtor Question
I would call her back - and ask her again to please contact the sellers agent for you to find out the answer to your question.
I have heard of agents saying once you are in contract it's better to go through the lawyers for everything - but never to call the sellers directly.
I am ALWAYS the go-between with my buyers and sellers.

Re: Realtor Question
No way. we did everything through our REA and which called the sellers REA. I wouldn't call the sellers.

This was my understanding. Call your REA again and ask that she/he contact the sellers with your questions and concerns.

Re: Realtor Question
This is definitely your agent's job. You shouldn't have any contact with the sellers until you see them at closing.

Re: Realtor Question
thanks everyone! I just spoke to my agent and she is contacting the sellers agent. She told me the their agent gave the ok to contact the sellers with any questions that I have...but I still feel uncomfortable with that so my agent is taking care of it.
