Recommend a cup with a straw
My granddaughter is 15 mos and is still using a sippy cup. My daughter bought a beginner playtex one where you're supposed to squeeze it so water comes up and baby gets the idea. Kylie keeps tipping the cup up like she's drinking from a cup with a spout. What is the best cup with a straw? One that doesn't leak and is easy to suck the liquid up?

Re: Recommend a cup with a straw
I just started my 17mo on the munckin & she took to it with no problem. no splatters, no leaks. It did do that slow straw-fill up thing when left out...but I they they all do that.

Re: Recommend a cup with a straw
DS has been drinking from a straw since 5 months. We would give him some water with a straw when we went out to eat and he just got it. When we started giving him the ones from the store, Tommee Tippee and Munchkin around 9 or so months he had a hard time with them because the straws are so hard and he was used to chewing on it while learning how to suck it up. We got him the Camelbak for kids water bottle. You have to bite the straw part and suck for the water to come out. It was great for him since he's a chewer. They sell them at Target and Sports Authority, LL Bean also has them. DH and I both have the adult version and we love them, BPA free also. Only thing that stinks about them is that they aren't meant for babies, the bottle says 3 and up so when they throw them they leak. We give him that one supervised lol. For a sippy that he walks around the house with and tosses, he gets the Munchkin or the Tommee Tippee. I like the Tommee Tippee because it's insulated so I feel like I can leave it out of the fridge longer...he's a slow drinker.

Re: Recommend a cup with a straw
DS had a tough time with the munchkin cups when he was starting with straws. The playtex little gripper was how he learned. Have your DD keep working with her, she'll get it soon.
As far as the leaking goes, with the little gripper there is no valve, so no stopping that, but I didn't mind because it was water and he was in his high chair.
With the bigger playtex cups I've noticed if I pull the straw up through the cap, and then loosen it a little by pulling it down just a hair it doesn't always do the "liquid rising up the straw" like another poster mentioned. Also if I see it doing it when i put the cap on and take a quick sip it stops then.
