Re: Recommend dryer repairman

Do you know how old the dryer is? After a certain age, it's often more cost effective to get a new one.

I don't know anyone. The last time my dryer broke, I opened it up, found out it was a broken belt, and repaired it myself.

That's actually worse news. The newer dryers tend not to be a durable as older ones!

Not sure where you are located, but Universe appliance in Seaford is really good, and I think they are very honest. In my experience, they don't charge to just come out if they can't fix something.

My washing machine (also a newer, digital one) broke last year. We called them, but when the guy came, he couldn't fix it (because it was a Kenmore and there was an issue with getting certain parts, had to go through Sears). They didn't charge us for the service call. I wound up having to get a new washing machine, but at least I didn't have to pay for the repairman to come look at it.

My friend had an issue with her Viking stove, and Universe came to look at it. Again, they couldn't do anything because of the specific issue, but they didn't charge for the service call.

My parents use them all the time for various appliance repairs (that Universe was able to successfully complete) and have always had a good experience.

Well Done Appliance Repair. Based out of Massapequa. I think the guys name is Tom! He was great. Charged for a service call (I think around $49) but deducted that if you went forward with the repair! He does late night hours and weekends!

Ummm, relax. I just meant that just because it's digital doesn't mean that it's so new that it's cost effective to fix...which is exactly what the other poster was saying.
