Recommend your point and shoot camera...please
My girlfriend is shopping around for a camera. I mentioned a Nikon Coolpix; but don't know much about them....I always had Kodak's prior to purchasing an SLR (Nikon).
She wants video capability and good quality pics. I think her budget is $200 - $300. TIA

Re: Recommend your point and shoot camera...please
I just orderedSony CyberShot H20
I wanted but can not afford a DSLR right now and the more I did my research on cameras I found that I am not ready for a DSLR yet anyway. BUT I knew I wanted more than a basic point & shoot camera. the sony cybershot H20 looks like a small DSLR but it is an advanced point & shoot that has the options for manual settings similar to a DSLR. Its like the perfect hybrid between the P&S and a DSLR. I have not used it yet because it just arrived yesterday. I plan to use it this weekend for my son's christening/1st birthday party. We are also going to the city on Friday so I plan to bring it there too.
It has many good reviews. check it out! She can probably get it for $220-$250 if she shops around. It takes HD video too.

I love my Nikon CoolPix S220. It is always in my bag. The SLR can be a PITA sometimes.
ETA: She can get a very good quality PNS for 100-150 bucks.

Re: Recommend your point and shoot camera...please
I currently have the Canon Powershot (don't know the model #) and I'm very happy with it (have had it for 3+ years).
I'm looking to upgrade and a friend of mine who is professional photographer recommended either the Canon G11 or the Canon S90 IS. The S90 is a little cheaper, lighter and takes the same quality pictures as the G11.
At the advice of people on these boards, check out kenrockwell.com - he gives excellent reviews of cameras and tells you exactly what you need (and don't need). He recommends the S90.
Good luck!
