Recommend your tire person/place
Im need to change my tires, have since I bought the van in 2007. I noticed the outer sides are smooth.. Is that good or bad.
Also Im thinking a more general tire from Bridgestone that handles different conditions.
Recs for tires and places you use. Thanks. and cost if ya dont mind.
I have no clue.

Re: Recommend your tire person/place
When you say the outer sides, do you mean the tirewall or just the outer edges of the tread? If it's the outer edges of the tread, check the inner tread and see if that still looks good. You may just be running the tires underinflated.
If you're talking about the tirewall, this is usually do to curb rash. Do you parallel park a lot?
In any event, tires come in so many different shapes and sizes. The only problem with replacing tires with different ones other than the OEM is that you may notice small differences while driving.

Unfortunately, tire wear and tire life is subject to MANY different factors, that that is not really true.

No problem. I think you're referring to the tread, and it sounds to me like you may be running your tires with the PSI too low. Moreso, given the fact that tire air pressure goes down as the temperature goes down. Typically, you should increase tire pressure in the colder months.

Re: Recommend your tire person/place
check out tirerack.com for reviews for your type of car. yokohama tires are great, IMO. I think the tire stores that are franchises will rip you off. go to a local place.

Re: Recommend your tire person/place
DH's car uses expensive tires he gets them from http://www.tirerack.com/ and then we go to All Weather Tires in Huntington Station to have them put them on.
All Weather Tire is fast and actually have some good eal on tires (I have bought some there when my flat couldn't be fixed)
you can check out tirerack for prices too.

I was actually going to rec'd something like this but I figured she was looking to just go to a physical shop and have it done. But I agree, Tirerack is really good and the reps are knowledgeable. I usually order thru them and they can deliver directly to a shop and have the shop put the tires on your car. You will get a much better price at Tirerack than any local shop.
