Recommend your Vacuum

I have had 2 kenmore canister vacuums and they have not held up. My first one the cord broke and now my second one stops vacuuming as I am vacuuming (like it looses power-bag empty and everything is hooked up). Plus they weigh 1/4 of my body weight. So if anyone can recommend a lightweight vacuum that can be used on wood floors that is very sturdy (we vacuum everyday) that would be great.

TIA

Re: Recommend your Vacuum

were you vacuuming along side me? I just came on to ask the exact same question because I was cleaning for the holidays and as I was cleaning my vacuum stopped working and won't turn on! Clearly our vacuums are in cahoots. If you don't mind me sharing this post so I don't have to bother the other posters with a new one I'd appreciate it.

I'm looking for a fairly lightweight bagless canister with a separate attachment for cleaning carpets but I'll be using it 95% of the time on wood floors. Any recommendations would be great.

Just to get a "tune-up" last year cost me $50. I paid almost $500 for both of the vacuums.

I was watching Dyson on QVC and they were light weight and less money than i paid for my Kenmore.

Re: Recommend your Vacuum

If it helps I ordered this vacuum:

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Electrolux-Ultra-Active-Bagless-Canister-Vacuum-EL4607A/29670840

It's on clearance I guess because it's green but I really don't care about that. Every other site I've seen it on was selling them for much more $$$ than walmart and it has really good reviews everywhere I've checked.

I was researching before black friday bc mine wasn't working and I was going to get a shark navigator (we have hard wood as well and then a few area rugs). The professional model is on sale at target right now. DH ended up fixing ours but if he hadn't I would have probably gone with that.

I have an LG Upright that I love. It's great, had it for a couple of years now.

I also hear great things about the Shark vacuum

Re: Recommend your Vacuum

I have the shark lift away. I really like it. My one complaint is that the canister is really small so you have to empty it a lot. I think they have made bigger ones now.

I just spent money on Miele. I got my mom he basic $300 one and its FANTASTIC!! I loved hers so much I bit the bullet and bout the $1k one. I did a lot of research and decided this was the way to go. Light with TONS of options....it sucks well :)

I have spent $600 in the past years on crappy vacuums that break. So I bit the bullet on the "good" one.

I am very very happy and will never buy another brand VC. You can see all the different models they have for a range of prices.

Miele is the way to go.

Re: Recommend your Vacuum

I have had my miele for over 7 years now and it works just as great as it did when I first got it.

I am actually annoyed that it won't give out because I want a new model Chat Icon

My sister's Miele is 20 years old and still works great.
I like my Electrolux cannister with HEPA filter (5 years old), but this is the second time I broke the power brush joint. Vacuum works great, it frustrates me to have to fix it again, but I need the power brush for carpeting.
I should have just bought the Miele and not listen to DH bittch about the cost.
