I laughed at these so much during my con call that I had to keep putting my phone on mute.

I taught high school social studies, and I heard some WHOPPERS.
Talking about Egypt, and the Nile River. I say, pointing at a map, "The Nile River empties into the Mediterranean, and it produces very fertile soil." Kid: "I don't get it. That's impossible." Me: "Why is it impossible?" Kid: "A river can't flow UP. Water can only go downhill."
Most of my ninth graders (in an expensive private school, and most of them came from expensive private elementary schools) could not locate ANY country on a blank world map. NONE. NOT AMERICA. NOTHING. I usually spent the first 2 weeks of the school year doing basic geography.

"There was a girl in math class at my school who didn't understand infinity. Also, she thought you could get moon burns from staying out too long at night."
This totally sounds like Britney S. Pears from Glee.

LIF would need a bigger server if I posted every dumb thing I've ever heard
ETA: When I grade the Regents exams I keep a legal pad next to me and write down "the greatest hits"

We had on the living environment regents an open answer question about what can be done with geese disturbing airplane flights.
One kid wrote: Don't fly the the planes while the birds are hi-bird-nating.
It was so funny I think it belongs on one of those ice pop sticks.

The misconceptions and ignorance about Jewish people are actually very scary!!!!!!
This one is actually the sign of someone using their brain: "If the President of the U.S. is a woman and marries the King of England, does the U.S. then belong to England because of the dowry required?"
I find my teacher friends' stories to be hilarious. A friend told me that she was starting a unit about Greek G-ds and G-ddesses so she asked the class if anyone knew the names of some of them. A kid raised his hand and asked, "wasn't one of them called Uterus?"
And, when I student taught (yes I went for teaching first), a girl in 11th grade wrote an essay about buying new clothing, only she kept saying alfit instead of outfit .

Dear self,
Don't make fun of other people if you cannot even keep your conversations to the correct LIF account.
Sorry all.
But my clients know my sense of humor and they know that I know when to use it and when not to.

Re: Reddit again: What's the dumbest thing you have heard someone say in school.
I'm a high school guidance counselor. I was meeting with a student last year for course selection for this year and we were discussing his options. This is a student who looks, sounds like, and has the mannerisms EXACTLY of Michael Jackson and it's not purposely, so it's a little hard to keep a straight face when you meet with him anyway. So, we have a Science Research/Robotics class - the acronym is SECME and everyone calls it Sec Me. So he asked me if he had room for _____ in his schedule and I didn't think I heard him correctly so I asked him what he said. He repeated, "Do I have room in my schedule for Vasectomy?" It was all I could do not to fall of my chair dying.
