Well I am back.....There were no animals in Dr. Batzofin's office but.....there was Mt. Everest..and a messy room that had paint splashed on the walls. lol
Let me explain before you all think I am nuttier than you may already do.
When I went on the consult with Kara,...Dr B...used a lot of anologies. He said that he isn't the type to "ignore the elephant in the room".....well today, he told me there was two ways to climb to the top of the mountain, one was on the north face, with a ton of danger and the other was the south face where there is less.... Basically the "less" would be gestational surrogacy...Some of you know what it sounds like to hear about donor eggs...I got the gestational surrogacy speech. He basically said with the immune issues that it's like having a messy room, a messy room where the neighbor's kids come in and spill paint on the walls....You can clean up a room, but sometimes getting the paint off the walls can cause more problems...
All these analogies can get confusing so bottom line....
IVF with IVIG...and whatever immune protocol,...(lovenox injections, prednisione, baby asprin) etc...may help . However, if it doesn't work out ...he doesn't want me to do the immunosuppresant therapy for too long...that he thinks gestational surrogacy is something to consider.
I told him how my current Re doesn't think I even have any infertility issues and he just said, she clearly does not have the education.
He spoke about Christopher Columbus and how when he first said the world was round, so few believed in the theory....and unfortunately that's the issue right now with some RE's....and immune treatment.
There are so many people who suffer from immune issues but the type of studies that the universities want to see are really far and few.... but after doing this for over 20 years, he said it "works". .....
My dh was impressed with Dr. Batzofin, as I was from the first time meeting with him with Kara. He is kind, compassionate, and most importantly very intelligent.... He was able to answer so many questions and never once wanted to rush us.
So I am signing up for the MAY IVF cycle...
KARA...WE MAY AS WELL CAR POOL :)

redstar I don't know your whole story, but I know how helpful and supportive you are too everyone!! It sounds like this DR. really knows his stuff , bec if you think so then I think he must! I wish you and your DH lots and lots of luck, health and happiness as you begin IVF!!! You certainly deserve it!

Michelle- I love the analogies. Certainly helps you relax a little with a tough situation.
The most important part of any of this is that you are comfortable with the doctor and feel that you educated yourself enough on the topic (and as we know you are quite educated!) :)
