Refusal to drink milk from a sippy?

DD will drink it fine from a bottle, but makes the "poison face" when I put it in the sippy. What gives?

She drinks water from it just fine.

DD did that too. It took about a month for her to get used to the milk from a sippy. For about two weeks she barely even drank milk because of it and I felt like I was following her around with the cup asking her to drink. Eventually she realized that if she wanted to drink milk it would be out of the sippy cup. Just another phase to go through.

Forget it. I erased mine because I am quite sure my advice was stupid. I think I was thinking of getting them to drink milk at all

I Chat Icon at the poison face. That describes it perfectly.

DD is like that, which is why we haven't been able to get her off the bottle.

I've changed the ounces per bottle several times so that I can reduce the number of bottles she has a day, but I really struggle with getting her to drink milk from anything other than a bottle. She just REFUSES. Chat Icon

More than one doctor told me to put a little bit of chocolate or strawberry syrup in it - Im sure they even make it organic. Theoretically, it is supposed to trick them into thinking that it is something else. Im going to try it soon. Abby will not drink milk from a sippy - juice and water yes, milk no.

My son is the same way. He will drink anything from a sippy, except his milk Chat Icon I haven't been able to break him of this yet.

That makes perfect sense!

Although at this point I don't know if it's still worth it since we're down to only 1 bottle... but I'll try that just to get her to drink more milk than she is now.

I would try a different type of sippy...one that she doesn't already associate with water.

I have 4 different types...not kidding. LOL.

She isnt even really attached to the bottles, but she is kinda picky with table foods so I want to make sure she is at least getting her milk.

Leslie.. I am going to try the chocolate thing soon.

I know the feeling...lol. I have a cabinet filled with 100 different sippies that he refused to use. Actually he will only drink out of 1 still to this day and it's a beginner for 7 month olds!!!!!! Everything else besides milk goes in a munckin straw cup.

Honestly, I can't tell you how many different kinds we have. And NOW she's at the point where she says "NO!! I want the yellow one!"

and then you give her the yellow one.

"NOOO, I want the other one!!"

Do you mean the red one? The purple one? The purple one with teh straw? The pink one with the purple handles? Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Refusal to drink milk from a sippy?

I was able to get DS to give up the bottles last month by giving him YoBaby smoothies. They have banana and peach flavors. The first time I gave it to him, it was all smoothie. Next time, 1/2 smoothie and 1/2 milk. Then over the next several days I reduced the amount of smoothie and added more milk. Now he drinks all of his milk from sippys, and he isn't particular at all about which sippy (we also have a collection!)

I hope this helps... it worked really well for us Chat Icon

DS is the same way. I try every week and he is not having it. He usually drinks water from a straw sippy cup so I even tried a sippy cup with a spout and he pushed it away and shock his head noChat Icon .

My DD did the same thing, she would just throw it on the floor. I continued to give it to her everyday, eventually she picked it up and drank from it. It just takes time.
