Registry question for those who have had their shower already

Did you find that a lot of your stuff flew off the registry in the day or two before your shower? I am pretty sure my shower is Saturday and there is still a bunch of smaller items that I need on my registry. (All of the big stuff has been bought) Do you think people wait to the last minute and buy what's left? What was your experience with your shower? Thanks!! Chat Icon

Re: Registry question for those who have had their shower already

For both my bridal and baby showers I noticed that my registry emptied the day or two before the event. I have a few people in my family that are very generous...and very cute...the like to swoop in and buy up whatever is left and they have been known to do it that morning of the event to make sure that everyone got a chance to get their gifts...how cute is that?

I also have people that when looking at the registry and not finding a theme of gifts remaining (like they want to buy bath stuff but a lot is already gone so they feel it won't be a complete gift) they give money or gift cards with the intention of getting anything we want for the baby or clearing the registry.

I had someone that saw that I registered for the pump but didn't want to buy it because of the strict return rules on them so they gave me a gift card for the pump. Wrote that on the card too!

Things like that....

Thanks for the replies. BRU has been driving me nuts too with the registry. Maybe more is missing than what's showing. Guess we'll see. Chat Icon

yeah, I'm somewhat concerned about the many last minute purchases.... mainly becuase my primary registry is on amazon!

I have 2 registries, and each are about 40% purchased as of now....

The BRU registry is now reduced to the breast pump, the packnplay, an extra carseat base, and several rather small items.... not much considering the usual last min rush crowd, and BRU's rep of suddenly being out of stock...

the amazon registry still has the diaper bag, the bouncer, the mattress, the high chair, the booster seat, and other mid-level gifts.... but it's not for the last minute crowd Chat Icon

I just hope it works out.......

Yep. It was like a firestorm! One day my reg was nearly full, the next...wham - gone!

Alot of my stuff came off a day or two after the invites went out. Then I noticed that other stuff was coming off in spurts. A day or two before my shower, most of the rest.

Oh good.......so happy to hear you saw a lot of movement right before your shower. I'm not trying to be greedy and I am thankful for all the big stuff that was purchased but those little things that are on there are important too!! I'll keep an eye out these next 2 days. Chat Icon

Things came off at the end. We ended up going out and buying a bunch of things. We had to exchange a few things (I got three mobiles and two gyms) and a bunch of gift cards. We didn't get the pad or the covers for the changing table.

Same here, most people did not buy the small stuff we really needed so we did a lot of exchanging and used our gift cards for the sheets, pad covers, etc.

My rec is not to open the bigger things such as high end swing, bouncer, etc. until you see how your DC's temperament is. He/she may not need all the bells and whistles, but it's hard to tell so we registered for them all, then decided what we needed when DD came.
