Religious Instruction reg
I had DS baptized 5 years ago and have not moved. I figured the church/parish would send me some sort of letter when it was time to register him for religion school. No.
Thank goodness it was one of those weeks where I actually flipped through the South Bay Neighbor newspaper. Sometimes I just chuck it without looking at it. The notice for registration was in there only a week in advance.
Just wanted to post in case anyone didnt get any notice.

Religious Instruction reg
I believe it's up to the parent to register their child for religious classes. Can you imagine if they contacted every baby that was ever baptized in their church? lol Both my DS's were baptized in the same church their receiving communion in and I contacted the religious education office myself to find out about registration.

I forgot to mention that they told me that they DID mail a letter to all those babies that are now 5/6 years old and was confused why I didnt get mine if I was at the same address.

I dont go to church but in case DS is interested in religion after taking these classes, I will start to take him on Sunday.

Re: Religious Instruction reg
I'm sorry, but how can you be annoyed about this if you don't go to church?
If people aren't making an effort to go to church, then why should the church be contacting every single person?

I agree. They probably didn't send it to you because you haven't been going to church. Would make total sense.

Not if they said they sent letters to all the babies they baptized 5/6 years ago. Then it makes no sense that I didnt get it actually.
And DS (or I) never showed interest in info for Cub Scouts, Lacrosse, Little League, the YMCA, etc. and notices are always in his school folder about registrations for those types of activities. I was surprised there wasnt a letter for this too.

As I said, I am personally not religous so I dont go to church. But once DS starts classes, if he shows an interest in learning more, I will start taking him. I like to make many activities available to him even I am not interested in them personally.

Re: Religious Instruction reg
Does he go to a Catholic school? Then I could see them putting someting in a school folder. But I would not think it appropriate for anything regarding religious instruction to be in a school folder otherwise.
I agree with the others, I can't see how you could be annoyed with the church. You want religious instruction for your kid you either find out about it at church when you go (ours in in the bulletin too) or you have to be proactive if you do not go-call, website etc.
I'll warn you though, it is usually a stipulation that the child go to church every Sunday once they start classes.
