Remembering 9-11
I wasnt sure if there was a previous post about 9-11 but I wanted to start one.
Tommorrow is a very sad, hard day for so many people affected by the events of 9-11. I will never forget that day, I lost my uncle that day like so many others lost family and friends.
I will keep each and everyone one of the victims in my thoughts and prayers.

Re: Remembering 9-11
After all these years, it still shakes me to my core. I remember walking over the 59th street bridge with my neighbor to get home to Long Island. This day is always so hard for me to get through and it does not really get any easier. I have moved on with my life, yet on 9/11 every year, time stands still for me.
I remember working for a non-profit that helped small businesses recover from the attacks after 9/11. I was down there every day for three years since October 2001, speaking to and helping small business owners recover and rebuild (some of whom lost family members). I re-lived that day everyday for three years. Still to this day, each and every person I spoke with is in my heart, their stories will always be with me.
I could write a book about 9/11, those three years, who I met, what I saw, how it smelt, how it looked, how you could walk around lower Manhattan and just know by looking at people who was there on 9/11 and who was a tourist. I guess I am trying to explain the unexplainable.
I cannot fathom the depths of sadness this day brings for wives, husbands, children, and family members who lost loved ones on that morning. My heart aches for them all. God Bless you

I can't agree with you more on this. I too was there that day and though I have moved on as much as possible, time still stands still for me on this day. I'm sitting up like a hysterical mess already and it's not even 1am yet. And I'm one of the lucky ones. I left the WTC less than 5 mins before the 1st plane hit and was outside my building (World Financial Center) when the 2nd one hit- and I can still hear that plane like it was yesterday. I still am super sensitive when I see planes (especially low flying ones) and I think that's something that I will never get over. My heart goes out to so many people today. I just finished saying to my husband how 6 years ago right now, growing up on the North Fork of long island, I felt like there wasn't a bad soul in the world- and how it was a good place to be- and how quickly that all changed that morning. I feel like a part of me died that day and I've never regained it. I look at my neice and nephews and think what a different world it is than when I was growing up.

It's still a sad and difficult day no matter how much time goes by....my prayers to all the families who have lost a loved one in the attack and for those who have become ill afterwards.

I completely agree. I was a little bit North of you, but I did see the second plane go in and I heard it. That sound is something you never forget.
Many to you, to everyone who is have a hard time today, to all who lost loved ones.

Remember all too well what it felt like to be in the City this day, six years ago. My heart goes out to all those we lost and all those still suffering from the effects.

Re: Remembering 9-11
DH lost the job he had on 9/11 because it was a retail outlet and they were closed for weeks afterwards because they were in the Hot Zone.
For the first time since 2001, DH is working in the city again. I called him after I left the house this morning to make sure he had his cellphone on, and if anything happened, to get his @ss to Penn and get home to me.
