removing paint from brick

Hi, we are in the process of closing our first home, a levitt ranch.

The current owner has painted over the brick on the fireplace and my wife and I really love the brick look.

Can paint be taken off of the brick and basically be made to look original again, or is it now damaged?

Thanks for the info

Re: removing paint from brick

Hey! congratulations on your soon to be purchase.
I saw them take the paint off on a hgtv show. i am sure if you google it you'll find a solution.
there should be no permanent damage.

good luck!
