Re: Rental Cars?
i get a discount through work, so we went with Enterprise, but i'm not sure how their regular prices are? We had no complaints though- everything was perfect, and they upgraded our car for free just b/c they had extras.
honestly though- DH did so much reserach for every aspect of the Disney trip, and i really credit that to making it sooo perfect. f you can, its Defintely worth it to pick up the Un-Offical guide to disney world. it was teh Best resource- and rates all places from the rental car to the restaurants, etc.... on service, price, quality, etc.
btw- enterprise was off site, but they had a shuttle, and i really felt no inconvience by that (which, in theory, i really did think it would be a pain in the butt.... but everything went so smoothly-it was totally worth it!)

I will have 2 small kids, 2 car seats, strollers & luggage. Would you still do the shuttle?

Re: Rental Cars?
We got ours through cheaptickets.com , the best price was through thrify I think, but we went with enterprise....we got a full size car - the SUV was $200+ more and we're not going to be driving much since we have a house there...

Re: Rental Cars?
We arent staying IN Dinsey so we need a car. One big enough to lug all the kids crap.
I guess my question is is there a difference between the quality of Enterprise and say Thrifty? The price is about $100 different!

Re: Rental Cars?
We always use Dollar (but they're all the same - go with the best price offered that is IN airport since it may be much to load all your stuff into the shuttle to get to an offsite lot).

When we drove down to FL 3 years ago we used Enterprise. No complaints.

Re: Rental Cars?
I use hotwire.com You search with the type of car that you want and they come up with lower rates than going to the specific company site (sometimes as much as $10/day cheaper).
There is a catch.... You don't know who you are renting from until after you pre-pay. But they only rent from the major companies like Avis, Hertz, Budget, and sometimes Enterprise. Some may not be comfortable pre-paying incase you need to cancel, but I think you can buy insurance for $12 so you can get your money back.
When we came to NY this weekend, we booked through hotwire and got a Buick Rendevous for $40/day from the Avis at MacArthur. That's pretty good for an SUV.
Definitely shop around and see where you can get the best rates. My husband told me the other day that Enterprise will match the price of a competitior if it's cheaper if you call the location directly.

Re: Rental Cars?
I think at one time or another I have used all of them. I don't see much difference, so we generally go with the cheapest.

Re: Rental Cars?
I looked at some of the travel sites, expedia, orbitz etc and some want $179 and some want $500+ - WT F can be the difference?

Re: Rental Cars?
My DH owns a dealership that supplies cars to Enterprise, and we get a discount, and they still aren't cheap!
When we went to Disney in April, we rented from Alamo, and got a great rate adn had excellent service. I think they are also the official rental car company of Disney.

Re: Rental Cars?
Did you try priceline? You can usually get great deals if you bid through them. Otherwise we typically have found Budget to be the cheapest when we go back to NY. Avis and Hertz are generally the most expensive since they cater mostly to business travelers.
