Repeat C-section Moms

If you had to have a 2nd c-section is the recovery more painful the second time or no?

Re: Repeat C-section Moms

Nope, in fact it was better bc I knew exactly what to expect. No amount of info from others prepares you for your first c/s but once you've been through it, it's easier. That was my experience anyway.

Re: Repeat C-section Moms

Nope 2nd csection was ALOT easier recovery for me. I got up and walked right away, and took my pain meds right on schedule. With my first csection i could barely move, with my second i was practically running the hallways the next day.Chat Icon

Re: Repeat C-section Moms

The recovery itself was much much easier. I was more freaked out for the surgery, I think because I knew what to expect.

Re: Repeat C-section Moms

No way, it was MUCH MUCH MUCH easier. I had some small complications that made it harder, but the pain factor was a big difference , the second time I was walking around the same night, only had one real day of pain, and was able to move quicker and easier .

Re: Repeat C-section Moms

I guess I'm the only one who didn't find it easier. I found the pain to be as bad as I remembered it to be, and my incision opened up twice so for me it was def. worse. But now that I think about it, maybe my incision opened because I was doing too much because I felt better. Now I don't know...

In any case, it was explained to me this way: the 2nd c-section isn't as bad because you haven't labored for x-number of hours before being cut open. So you were basically healing from labor and from surgery the first time. The second time, it is just from surgery. Maybe that will help you.

No you're not! Chat Icon I thought my 2nd one was more painful...recovery-wise. I'm not sure why, or maybe I don't really remember #1. But I was up and about MUCH easier and faster with my 1st one. For my 2nd, they really made me take it easy in the hospital. I wasn't allowed up for almost 2 days. I wasn't allowed to shower for a few days...COMPLETELY different from #1.

Even the recovery home I found #2 to be harder.

Now at 3 weeks PP I'm feeling great! So it's just a matter of allowing yourself to heal no matter what # c/s you're on

Re: Repeat C-section Moms

I found it to be the same; which wasn't bad at all. The only thing I found more difficult was keeping my toddler from me. She always wanted to be picked up and I needed help to get her in/out of her crib; so that part was harder. Yet the actual recovery was probably easier.
