Reproduc. Endo in Stony Brook area

Hi,

I live in Stony Brook and I need to see a reproductive endocrinologist. I was hoping that someone may know of a good doctor or practice in the area. I would appreciate any input. Thanks!!!!! Chat Icon

Reproductive Specialist of NY has an office in Stony Brook, right on 347. You will here mixed reviews about their practice. I go to the Mineola office and my main RE is Dr. San Roman. I actually graduated from their today at 9w5d pregnant.

Good Luck!!!!

I go to Dr. Michael Lydic - he is right off of 347 on Technology Drive

631-444-4686 - option 1

He is very "hands on" and involved in his patients.

I went to their Stony Brook office. I loved Dr Stelling and Dr San Roman. I had no problems with this office. You will read alot of mixed reviews about the Mineola office. I am going to TTC#2 on my own but if after a few months if I am not pregnant I will go back to them.

Re: Reproduc. Endo in Stony Brook area

Another LI-IVF patient here...I love this office. So much more professional than RSNY.

BTW, a lot of RE's don't particularly like RSNY either. As one Dr. said to me "They call themselves a Center of Excellence but I'm not sure what they do that is Excellent"

I made an appt. in the Stony Brook office with Dr. San Roman. My gyno had mentioned him and said he was good but I was curious if any of you had experience with him. What did you think of both him and their practice? Any input is appreciated.

Thanks,

Kris

Re: Reproduc. Endo in Stony Brook area

I had a very good experience at the Stony Brook office. Dr. San Roman was my Dr , I also saw Dr.s' Stelling and Cain.
I'm now 18 weeks PG, I was with them for 3 months.
I went to shake Dr San Roman's hand when I was leaving on my last visit and he gave me a big hug instead, I felt at home there.
I personally would recommend them based on my experience.

There are a few people who have gotten PG with RSNY - if you have an easily treated problem then they are fine.
BUT - did they do an HSG, WaterSono or Hysteroscopy?
I did eight IUI cycles with them and they did none of the above - when I went to a different RE, the first thing that was done was an HSG and guess what? My tubes are blockedChat Icon
That's a year of cycling gone to waste....Chat Icon
Hence the reason I don't recommend them.

I went to Dr. Lydic. He's a great doctor, I just hate their hours. I could never get there and Dr. Lydic is ALWAYS late. Other than that, they were good. I just felt like Dr. Lydic was very dedicated to his teaching and his lecturing and had less time for his patients...but I love Dr. Bronson in his practice.

Agreed. I also went to him. I never was ver impressed with him-he is very "by the book" If you have an issue within his realm he will be fine...specifically PCOS. I have to say I was impressed by his dedication to me when I needed emergency surgery, which he did for me.

I also went to the Stonybrook ofiice and only saw Dr San Roman, he was wonderful. After 6 miscarriages and unexplained infertility, he was my last shot. My daughter will be 2 next monthChat Icon

I saw Drs Lydic and Bronson before San Roman, and I was not overly impressed
with them but JMO

Thank you all for the comments. I think for now I will keep my appt. with Dr. San Roman and see how I feel after meeting with him. I could always get a second opinion if I don't feel comfortable with what he has to say. I will keep you posted on my experience. Thanks again!! Chat Icon

Re: Reproduc. Endo in Stony Brook area

I went to rsofny also and LOVVVVVVED THEM, I had nothing but professionalism. They took all the right avenues and did all the right tests first.
I got prego with twins with ivf from them. I def alot of people might not have liked them but I do think not every doctor is for everyone.
Dr. San roman is opening a enormous office--It might e his third not sure. in Islip. If he was that bad I do not think he would have gotten so far.
Dr. Stelling is actually head of something that has to do with embryo reasearch I believe.
As far as recommendations go.....my last gyno was a infertility specialist--a gyno-a obstertrician and so on and guess what? he had the lowest rate of c sections in the hospital and so on..well he lost his license...mailure to maintain records...sexual harrassment---had a baby with a patient---misdiagonsed a cancer patient and killed a baby...
hence...trust your own gut-everyones experiences are different

Re: Reproduc. Endo in Stony Brook area

I just started going to them. I saw Dr. San Roman and I really liked him. He ordered an HSG for me, a SA for my DH and some other tests for my regular gyno to do. He said he thinks that all of my tests are going to come back normal, in which case he will do IUI. One thing I really liked is that I was able to talk candidly about my insurance issues (they don't cover any treatments -- just testing) so he said he will talk to my gyno's office and see if they can help me to get some of my sonos covered by insurance. I felt totally at ease with him. Sorry I don't have much more info other than a first visit, but at least you should know not to be nervous going in for the first time. Good luck. Chat Icon
