I guess every doctor there is different because Trivax never asked me to do the HSG, but I do think its a good idea especially if you are paying OOP for IUI's you at least want to know that your tubes are clear.
Which is funny because when he was my dr that was the first thing we did!
Yes! When I went to him first four years ago, that was one of the first things I did. This time around, he didn't send me for one.

Reproductive Specialists-UPDATE (need sugestions)
i will just say that before you start any treatment, i would probably do a HSG to rule out any problems with your tubes and uterus. I'm surprised they also aren't having your DH to a semen analysis to rule him out as the problem. I did Clomid for 4 months before i got pregnant with DD. We have been trying now for #2 for almost 2 years and I was on Clomid for a full year with no results. Wishing you every success and baby dust in the world!

The Dr should be doing all testing before putting you on any meds.
The HSG and a seman analysis are the min that IMO should be done before anything.

not uncommon for him not to order, but if your tubes are blocked you wasted time and money on treatments that would not work.
OK, this is where I am venting on Trivax. He was my first dr and I liked him at first. However, he did not send me for an HSG even after failed IVFs. well long and behold, I told him I wanted one anyway and I wound up having a uterine septum that I had to have surgically removed! he also didn't test my thyroid or didn't test it specifically enough and long and behold I have a thyroid issue and second dr immediately put me on 50 mg of synthroid- Dr. T also believes I should be on it and clinically diagnosed me with Hashimotos. so those are TWO BIG things Trivax missed with me. Be your own advocate and ask for tests, be persistent!!!!!!!!!

Reproductive Specialists-UPDATE (need sugestions)
Dr. Trivax screwed up my transfer and couldn't get the cathether through....I had bad cramping after when he finally did which compromised my ability for it to even work.
Some of the Mineola nurses are mean and rude in the OR. I asked for 10 more minutes to lie there and she cut me such a rude look and bitched about it.
I wanted to scream I just paid $15,000 plus for this shiz...I can take 10 minutes if I need to.l

Before you do anything have dh take a sperm test and you should get as hsg. Two years is a long time not to conceive naturally.

Re: Reproductive Specialists-UPDATE (need sugestions)
Do the HSG and the Semen Analysis. They are starting you with clomid and monitoring now, not so much to get you PG this cycle, but to see how you react. The first month on meds and being monitored is all about learning your body and what you need. Start the Clomid and do the SA and HSG. Waiting a month will just delay you by 1 month.
Best of luck!

Re: Reproductive Specialists-UPDATE (need sugestions)

So finally tomorrow DH and I will be visiting an RE after trying for close to two years naturally. We are both 30 and live a healthy life, I'm scare something could possibly be wrong with me (or him), and maybe be faced with some bad news.
My appointment is with Dr. Saketos, does anyone here have any experience with this group?
Also what should i expect in my first visit? ___________________________________ So i went in yesterday, everyone was very nice, had blood work done, met with Dr. Saketos she took her time and answered all my questions and concerns.
Here is my real question: She wants to put me on clomid next month (march) which i'm ok with, and also wants to do the tube test and thereafter start iui (all in the month of March). I'm kind of torn and might be leaning toward just doing clomid for the whole month of march (no tube test or iui) and see what happens. If i have no luck in March i will proceed in April with iui. Any suggestions? FM me if you feel more comfortable.
You can always just do the clomid and just the tube test in March then if no luck proceed to IUI in April. The tube test is important in determining if it's a tubal issue(blocked tube)that's preventing the sperm on fertilizing your egg. Did she mention anything about a semen analysis to see if it's male factor?

I had catheter issues as well when Trivax did my transfer{both transfers}(had to switch to a smaller since it wouldn't go through). I also experienced that at North Shore they always try the standard which never goes through but I can't say that impacted me getting or not getting pregnant since I had experiences where I had a BFN and had BFP with catheter issues and cramping.

Reproductive Specialists-UPDATE (need sugestions)
In my experience, you'd want to be as aggressive as possible, as soon as possible. I followed the same plans that they want you to do when I went to this practice (West Islip office) with #1. Only difference was that I had been trying with Clomid with my OB for two months beforehand. The first time we paired the Clomid with IUI, it worked. I found out that my tubes were open, but that I had an arcuate uterus from the HSG. I would at least do the HSG and the Clomid. If you are OOP, I understand the idea of waiting until the results of the HSG are back before deciding about the IUI. The results should be back in plenty of time for you to still do an IUI when you ovulate. I would definitely do that if the HSG comes back clear.
Also, my doctor there is Stelling, and he was very thorough with bloodwork (including thyroid) and other testing before/during my first cycle.

had some trouble with me as well. Yes, I got the stink eye as well from the nurses, even though they messed up my paper work, yet I got the stink eye for needing a few extra min.
