Re: restaurants in NYC -theatre district
Becco is really hit or miss if you're going for the pastas. Sometimes amazing and sometimes so-so. My FAVOROTE place is right down the street from Becco - Lattanzi. Really great italian good. OMG YUM. I also love Cascina, which is on 9th.
Out of the 3 Becco is hte most crowded and noisy, Lattanzi is the most intimate, but also the most expensive, though comparable to Cascine (and becco if you get an entree, I usually just get the pasta)

On a more average scale, Tony's Dinapoli is delicious, but not a quiet and intimate place. Definitely more of a louder, family style atmosphere.
