Re: returning to god/religion

I think it's natural and I also think it is natural to shy away. It's like when people get to be old, they tend to find religion. People need faith, they need something to believe it. But you can't blame all your problems on God. JMO

When I had something tragic happen (the death of my friend- who was killed by a drunk driver) I actually turned more AWAY from God. I was always religious and prayed- and then, after that, I was so upset with God. I didn't understand why he did that to my friend... Now, when I pray- I pray to my friend and I don't go to Church like I used to. Maybe one day I will go back to the way I was- but it's been five years and it's still not the same for me. I'm just turned off from it. Chat Icon

this happened with the parents of my husband's best friend - their daughter, at 38 - healthy and beautiful - went to work one day and just dropped dead at her desk. Turns out she had some heart thing that was never detected.

Her mother was very religious, and after that, became very angry at God.

I think its natural to want to have someone/thing to believe in - especially in times of need.

Hebrews 11:1 is one of my favorite verses ...

"Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."

I think its natural and appropriate to turn back to religion and your faith in times of sorrow and need. Not hypocritical at all ... thats what all that "groundwork" and foundation was laid for.

Re: returning to god/religion

I;m soo torn.
On one hand I want to return and have faith in God that he will help and heal me.
But at the same "mad" at that same God for the road I am on.
Poor "guy" can't win with me.
