Re: Ring Doorbell

DH got it and set up all the whole thing. We LOVE it. My cell will tell me when someone is at the door. You can see it anytime when you go to the app and we also pay a small monthly cost for them to store the video just incase you ever need it.

We don't have the ring doorbell, but do have the Arlo wireless camera system. Free storage of videos for 2 weeks, and I get immediate alerts to my email and phone. The image is crystal clear, and I like that it gets more than just my door, my driveway etc. The night vision on it is great also.

I think it’s just OK. If a person rings the bell or it detects motion we will get notifications on our cell which is nice. However, as far as detecting motion, I think it’s very hit or miss which annoys me. It will send me a notice if a truck is driving down the street but not if a person is walking in front of my house. I was able to live with it until a few weeks ago. We have a 2 family house. Our tenant upstairs parked his new car in front of the house. The next morning his car was sitting on bricks. Overnight, someone came by and stole his tires and rims. The last recording was of my sister leaving the house at 10 pm and the next recording was of the garbage truck coming by collecting garbage at 6am. We were highly disappointed that the camera didn’t catch any of it.

I've heard this from a few folks, which is why I didn't get it. Very spotty on picking up things and as for the 'talk to the person thru the speaker' thing that they show, they said by the time the person is detected and your phone actually rings usually the person is gone.

My cousin has the Kuna - which is a porch light with a built in camera. It's really good. It records the entire time - will send you notification of activity. However, the reason we didn't get that one is bc it requires to be plugged into an outlet, which we don't have near the door. If you have one you might want to consider it.

We have it and love it. I love knowing exactly when packages arrive even when I'm not home. It's also been used to stalk on my inlaws chatting while they leave my house Chat Icon

When we first got it I found the constant motion sensing to be a bit annoying because I was getting notifications nonstop. We've since decreased the sensitivity so random cars don't get picked up, just motion that's closer to the door. It's perfect now.

That is so annoying! Chat Icon

I have had a similar experience with the hit and miss on motion. Like sometimes it gets the mailman and sometimes it doesn't but I get my mail everyday so he is on my porch everyday so WTF.

But for the price, I like it. I actually got a Groupon for it. I think I paid $179

We have several Arlo cameras around the house. It's awesome. The thing we loved is it wireless. Batteries last several months. And it's a strong magnet. You screw in a small piece then just stick the camer one. No wires. Not a huge job. Anyone can do it.

You know, I was buying batteries at Rite Aid, and they were almost $15 a pop. I found a huge pack of them on Amazon, and so far one set has lasted me almost 6 months!

Ours goes off all the time for cars driving by, I wish it was easier to calibrate. Other than that we really like it. Ours just refused to connect to the network and after a few days of back and forth emails with customer service they sent us a new one and we shipped the old one back.
