Riverhead Aquarium

I've heard many times that it's really not that big, and it is rather expensive...but MIL wants to bring DS and myself there this week. I know that they close at 5... she wants to leave about 3:30...we are about 20 mins away. Do you think we can cover the whole area in that amount of time... or should I tell her we'll go another day when she's not working so we can go earlier?

Re: Riverhead Aquarium

I would certainly take more time than just 1.5 hours. It would not be worth that short amount of time. I would give it at least 3-4 hours to get your money's worth.

ETA: to more answer your question, no, I don't think you COULD cover the whole thing that fast eitherChat Icon

Re: Riverhead Aquarium

we just went for the first time yesterday and were not impressed at all. We were there for about 90 minutes. You can see everything rather quickly, but I also wouldn't want to rush either. You wouldn't be able to see the see lion show either.

Thanks for the replies! I just know a few people that went, and they either said it wasn't worth it, or the covered it all in an hour...but I don't know if they did the shows or anything. I'll tell MIL we'll go on her day off. Thanks!

Re: Riverhead Aquarium

I think it depends how interested you are in everything.

I'm not one to stare at tanks of fish for hours. We just went about 3 weeks ago and we spent about 2 hours there and saw a couple of the shows they had.

If you want to be out by a certain time, I think you can defintely see everything quickly and make it work.

Re: Riverhead Aquarium

As far as aquariums go, it's not the best out there but DS LOVES it, so for us, it's well worth a couple of hours. They have a nice outdoors area, so definitely pack a lunch and make a day of it. You can easily spend 90min - 4 hrs there, depending on how long you linger at each window/exhibit.
