Re: Gymboree....worth the money or no?
The class I went to was practically empty so I stopped. I would imagine if you are social and its a big class then it is a lot of fun.
I sort of don't like kids anymore though At church last week, a little girl came up to Josh and took his toe and twisted the hell out of it. The mother did not do anything so I shoed her away. I think I would be the gymboree problem mom.

Re: Gymboree....worth the money or no?
I feel its worth it! Julia started going at 6 months (Level 2), and she just finished her last class on friday! I met so many other nice mom's there, and we stilll have playdates once a week with the kids. Julia learned a lot by going there, crawling, walking, learning from the other kids, interacting, it was great!
We stopped at level 5 cause I wanted to join her up for gymnastics and dance classes.

Re: Gymboree....worth the money or no?
Ok, here's my next question. Ava walks and talks already, do I sign her up for the next level up, or do I put her with her actual age group? The description for the older group seems to match where she's at. All this is so confusing to me. I need a mommy assistant who just tells me when to go where Anyone want the job?

Re: Gymboree....worth the money or no?
i didn't care for it, but we were going when DS was just a few months old and the class was lots of "discussion." Probably now he'd get more out of it. I also didn't like that the instructor was some college student that they seemingly just picked up off the street. I'm sure if you had a good instructor it would make a huge difference.

Re: Gymboree....worth the money or no?
I think Id keep her with her age group. Especially since its her first kiddie group thing. Socially it might be better to have her meet her own age, and then you take it from there, if you think she'd do better a step up. There are so many ranges of different abilities within groups. Im sure there will be a few more kids there that she will have fun with.
My niece is in kindergarten and reading 4th grade level, and my sis chose not to skip her to first (and doesnt know if it was a great decision at the time) But socially they think it was best.
sorry if I just rambled and didnt help any.

Re: Gymboree....worth the money or no?
FYI - the music class is for 6-18 month olds, so you might be good there. Also, if you join for any class during the summer, you can attend any additional play gym classes for free.
It is very expensive though!

Good thread - my questions exactly.
I need to get her around other kids, but don't have an arm and a leg to pay for it.
Added Question - Any one go to the Gymboree off Exit 70???

I would sign her up for the level she is at, they will tell you the same. It goes by the age.

I'm so glad you asked this. I was about to sign us up for one. I plan to do the free trial class and see how it goes.

Re: Gymboree....worth the money or no?
If I wasn't 8 months pg when DS' session ended I would have put him in the next session. I think it is great for both the mom's and kids and he really enjoyed it. I would put DD in her age group and see if they will tell you how old everyone is in that class. Try the class out and if you feel she is bored then move her to the next one.

Re: Gymboree....worth the money or no?
I signed my DD up at 11 mos. I think it's worth it. It's great for socialization and muscle development. My DD has improved in both areas since we started classes. We go 2x a week, one just her and I and one with DH, her and I. There are alot of dads at our location, which is nice. I would keep her in her appointed age group BUT I do think she is more advanced.

Gymboree was too expensive for me. That is why I joined the Music Together instead. Plus he loves music so I thought it would work out great.

I think I'm leaning towards this more. She's so musical already, and I think she would love this. Ahhhh, decisions, decisions! Thanks, girls! I think I'll do the trial class and see what happens.

I just signed up for Gymboree. I went to the trial class and the instructor was really good (I'm at the East Northport location) so hopefully it will be worth it.

Re: Gymboree....worth the money or no?
How much are Gymboree classes? Does the price go up the older the child? Do you get to make your own schedule (ex: 1X a week, 2X a week?) Is it pay-as-you-go?

Re: Gymboree....worth the money or no?
We went for the first time yesterday and loved it.
But DS is only 6 weeks, so it's a whole different experience.
I agree with the other girls, the instructor and the class size would make a huge difference.

I'm in NJ, so this may be different:
I pay $75 a month (that's less than $20 a class) and have a designated class to go to.
However once a month they have the "bubble pass" where you can go to any location that whole week for free.

So basically, for $75 a month, you meet once a week?

Unfortunately, Long Island is quite a bit more expensive. I'm paying $239 for a 10 week session in E. Northport.

Yes - the music class is $279, plus the sign up fee if you haven't taken a class with them before. However for the summer it might be worth it if you are going to try and attend more than once a week at the additional play gym times (you can attend at any location).

Re: Gymboree....worth the money or no?
I liked Little Gym better....DH felt a little more comfortable going bc I think it's a little more guy friendly. He thought there were too many women at Gymboree. We go on Sat mornings, so that DH and I can take turn going in with him. Then we go out for breakfast afterwards for some family time.

Works to about $5 more a class.

Rachel, Im sure you could teach this class (but its your vacation time! ) But hey, you should start your own little music side gig, with Ava as your assistant
