Rolling over & Tummy Time
At what age did your DC roll over?
My DD hates tummy time. How can I get her to enjoy it? I feel like she will never learn to crawl if she doesn't start learning to enjoy tummy time.

Re: Rolling over & Tummy Time
DS rolled over (belly to back) at 3 months. It took him about 2 more months to roll back to belly. Now he does it all the time--he seems to like rolling instead of trying to crawl.
He HATED tummy time. I tried doing it just a few minutes several times a day initially, which worked better than a big chunk of time. Lying him on my belly while I lied down helped, he liked that. He also liked it better in his crib than on his playmat for some reason. I can't say there was much that made him love it though, I think he just got stronger and it got easier.

Re: Rolling over & Tummy Time
Ryan rolled belly to back around 12 1/2 wks and back to belly 13 1/2 wks - he now does it non-stop and seems to be sleeping more soundly on his belly.
I'm not sure you can do much - maybe put a mirror in front of DC when doing tummy time to focus her. If she hates it, do it in small increments - just a few minutes a day. I wasn't really good about tummy time b/c Ryan didn't like it for more than a few minutes.

Re: Rolling over & Tummy Time
It helped to put my DD in just a onesie on her tummy because she was able to move around better then and for awhile she could roll over only when in a onesie and not in her regular clothes.

Re: Rolling over & Tummy Time
DS will be 3 months next week and looks like he is no where near ready to roll over. He seems to be just about mastering keeping his head up for a bit and this is with support from a mini boppy lily pad play mat thing.
Did you try using something like this for tummy time? When we were putting him just on his belly on a flat surface he would never lift his head. Now with this thing he is so much better at it and when he is without it he is starting to lift his head a bit better too.

Re: Rolling over & Tummy Time
Nina was almost 4 months when she first rolled from belly to back and a week later back to belly.

Re: Rolling over & Tummy Time
My DS rolled over once right before he turned 2 months belly to back. Then last week he rolled 4-5 times in a two day period belly to back (he's just over 3 months). We thought he had it figured out then but hasn't done it since. We do lots of tummy time and his arms are getting really strong. He holds himself up very high. I think it helped that when he was younger we started tummy time on the boppy. That way his face wasn't pressed into the floor. He also had very strong neck control from the day he was born.

Re: Rolling over & Tummy Time
My DS also hates tummy time. I now use the boppy pillow to help him with tummy time. That seemed to work today. He lasted two minutes instead of 30 seconds. He rolls onto his side right now and nothing else.
