Rooms at LIJ
I am scheduled to be induced on wed night at 8:00. Is that normal for them to give an appointment at night? Anyway, I'm just thinking about DH and having to be up all night with me. Is there a comfy place for him to sit and/or sleep?

Rooms at LIJ
LIJ at NHP? The Katz building? Yes, the couch in the delivery / l&d rooms were VERY comfortable for DH and the rooms are nice and big. We were down there for 3 nights while they were attempting to induce me (I was admitted for pre-e and the doc on staff wanted to induce me immediately at 35&1/2 weeks). Once I delivered (c-section) we were in the maternity unit (I think it was more of a post surgical unit than the regular maternity unit) and the chair turned bed was not as comfy for DH.

Re: Rooms at LIJ
Thank u! That's very helpful info. I would rather the labor room be more comfy bc after the baby is born, he could just go home to sleep and come back in the morning. He doesn't want to leave before I deliver.

Neither he nor you are going to want him to leave, trust me. DH spent all 7 days in the hospital with me, and honestly neither of us would have had it any other way. Plus, once the baby is born, he's going to want to spend as much time with LO as possible... it's so hard to leave them (DS was in NICU for 5 days, and I had to keep going back to my room for meds and wound checks).

Rooms at LIJ
I had a c-section so I was never in the L&D room. The couch in the post partum room is NOT comfortable. My DH slept horribly there. I wanted him there the whole time we were there, but it wasn't worth both of us sleeping bad.

I was induced at night - it took 48 hours. Baby was born at 10pm. I think DH stayed the first night and went home the second night. that is a long time to sleep in those uncomfortable chairs!

WOW REally?? I couldn't sleep without him there. And he didn't want to be away from me or our DS (who was in NICU).

I didn't give birth at LIJ, but just wanted to say I also had a c-section and my DD was in the NICU but I was at the hospital for 4 nights and my DH only stayed over one of the four. He had to go home, take care of the pets, get me clothes, etc.

How long did it take for you to give birth after being induced?

Yeah, I was in the hospital a total of 7 nights, 3 before c-section 4 after, DH was with me each and every night. Granted, we have no pets, but I'm pretty sure he still would have stayed with me only to go home to care for the pets. He did leave for work 1 day, worked 1/2 day and they told him not to come back for another week. He also left to get things for me and DS, but again, left then came back and stayed the night with me. Every one is different, neither of us even thought of him not staying.

My DH is going to have to go home at some point bc we have a 3 year old dd and a diabetic dog that needs insulin twice a day. He is going to stay as much as possible though. With our dd, I just told him to go home, sleep and come back in the morning. I guess we will have to see what works in the moment.

LOL. I wanted DH to go home. What was he going to do there? Watch me sleep? I sent DD to the nursery each night so he'd leave around 930 or 10 pm and go home and get a good night's rest, feed the cats, take care of the mail, etc and I'd get sleep too.

This was what we did too. I gave birth in the morning, but had been there the whole night before. DH stayed the night before just in case I gave birth before I was induced. But I sent him home each night. We have cats and honestly, the couch was in no way comfortable for him to sleep on. He came back early each morning and spent the day with me.

Rooms at LIJ
DH spent one of those nights with me at the hospital (post delivery). He slept on the pull out sofa and let me tell you he was uncomfortable. I told him to just sleep at home in the comfy bed.

I had DH go home too. Someone needed to sleep since I wasn't. We had family able to watch he dog but I felt there was no reason for him to bee there. He also went back to work the day after I came home from the hospital.

Rooms at LIJ
DH stayed with me during my induction (but I was only in labor for 12 hours). At night he went home. No reason for him to stay since we sent LO to the nursery. He even went to work 2 days after I delivered.

Re: Rooms at LIJ
Will I be in a triage room at LIJ when they induce or a L&D room?
