Rough days and future kids
DD caught her first cold (a stuffy nose) last week at daycare. Yesterday was the worst, it was a very rough day for us all. She was fighting her bedtime for 2 hours and screaming at the top of the lungs for most of the time.
When we finally got her to sleep, DH said he's done. He doesn't want any more kids. Both of us has said that before after a rough day but he said this time he was really serious. We'll see.
Has anyone swore off more kids because of a particulary rough time?

Re: Rough days and future kids
I swore off kids when I saw my niece screaming daily with colic. I swore off kids when Joseph was born too early & we had to leave him in the hospital. I swore off kids when Joseph had RSV. I swore off kids when Joseph threw up all over my new work suit. I swore off kids when he took ballpoint pen to a brandnew couch, loveseat & ottoman. I swore off kids after sleepless nights & days I had to be alert & awake.
and then there was Maddie.
and it only takes a smile, a laugh or an "I love you" to sucker you right back in.
Baby #1 & Baby #2 can be complete opposites.

Re: Rough days and future kids
Yes we did a few times in the beginning, first after delivery I swore never again, then a few times during the first few months, when she would NOT sleep! However, I think we tend to forget the bad stuff and our memory of those times get fuzzier and sweeter as time goes on, which explains why we're not all only children!

Re: Rough days and future kids
Yes, DH has sworn off kids forever based on the fact that he can't handle day to stay stuff w/DS without me. Well, he can, but I guess he's overwhelmed still and can't imagine adding another one in the mix. I am hoping he changes his mind, but half the time I think only one might be just right for us. I hear this is normal though, but my DH is pretty adament about it. I don't think he's goign to change his mind.

I do this all the time!! But I don't think that I mean it... I would like DD to have a sibling like I did.

Re: Rough days and future kids
We have.
Our rough time was the first 7-8 months of her life. She cried so much, never slept. She still does not sleep very well.
We love her to pieces and she is amazing now, but we both feel like we don't know if we could do it again. We never say never, but both say probably not.
