Routine visits
Tell me what goes on during your routine visits. Like the ones in between the Sonos and blood drawn. Is it normal for the dr. to literally spend about 30 seconds with you? I had an appt today with a different dr from my regular dr bc they want me to meet all drs. I'm 15 weeks and so it was just a routine check in. I gave my urine sample then the nurse brought me in, weighed me and took my blood pressure then left. 30 mins later the dr came in, barely looked at me, made fun of my pants as she checked the heartbeat before almost walking out before asking me if I had any questions. I did have some questions but I was so put off by the whole 30 second experience I said no and left. I will not see this dr again but you know she will be the one to deliver. Lol. So tell me, am I just being sensitive and this is normal for a routine appt? I don't recall it being this way with my dd (different practice).

Re: Routine visits
It's usually pretty quick - nurse taking vitals, doc coming in for heartbeat. They usually have their computer charts up with them and will scroll through just to be sure nothing else needs to be addressed. Then they ask if I have any questions, tell me what's coming in subsequent appts., and that's pretty much it. It's fast but I guess because they are usually standing there reviewing the chart, I never felt like it was rushed.

Re: Routine visits
I agree, my routine visits are very quick, pee in the cup, get on the scale, take blood pressure and then wait to see the dr. Dr asks how I'm feeling and then checks baby's heartbeat. She asks if I have any questions and tells me what to expect for my upcoming visits and that's a wrap. Since my dr is 30 minutes away from where I live, I definitely spend more time driving to and from those visits than the actual visits themselves.

I just remembered I think you go to the same practice as me - have you seen all of the drs in the practice? Do you have a hard time getting appts with your primary dr? I was told today that dr. Morris Rush is booked out through August. Not sure how I am ever going to see her if she is constantly booked. Is this the norm?

Routine visits
Yup. I wait longer than I see the doctor.
I pee in a cup, get weighed, go into an exam room, get bp taken by the nurse, dr comes in a few mins later, reviews my bp (I have high bp), measures the belly, checks for hb, asks if I have any questions, and then tells me the next time I should come in.

Re: Routine visits
Sounds normal to me. There isn't really much to do as long as they hear the heartbeat.

I have not yet seen the new doctors. Marchbein was my favorite but now I've mostly been seeing Prince. Morris-rush tends to make me anxious (I feel like she gives too much info) so I tend to not book with her. I also like Oppenheim but a friend mentioned to me she seems dismissive lately to her. I hear seidman is like Marchbein.

Oppenheim is the dr I had the experience I described above with. I wasn't a fan of her. It wasn't just the quickness of the appointment...I just got a bad vibe from her. Like she didn't care at all.
I liked Prince too.

Sounds like how mine were. I would usually ask the nurses questions to be honest. I never felt rushed per se. I guess I felt like everything was good so there's not much to say. If everything is going well then there really isn't much to say.

Re: Routine visits
Ive been to two practices and my doctors always sit down and review my chart and ask me if I have any questions. Sometimes they seem distracted or rushed but they do answer my questions and are patient with me!
