OMG I am truly baffled by this whole thread...defending a man for calling a woman a C U NT but being outraged that one is calling a woman a S L U T!!!! Please tell me I am blind, please tell me I am not seeing this right, please tell me that there are HONESTLY NOT women on her saying one is worse because it is a part of the body. BOTH are degrading, BOTH men are pigs I don't care what side of the POLITICAL line they stand on and I really HATE to see anyone saying well because he is liberal, or republican, or democrate that it is okay...I mean really! And saying well this poor innocent girl stood up for WOMENS RIGHTS, and then got called a slut for it, and then to say WELL Sarah PALIN made her bed now sleep in it, that is the most HYPOCRITICAL statement out there.

Im reading this and scratching my head. the liberal bias in the media blows me away.
I bet everyone on here would be signing a different tune if it was a guy who called THEIR DAUGHTER a C**T..who cares if it was Palin that the Cword is aimed at. Its a deragatory word nonetheless. Just llike Slut. Doesnt matter who its aimed at..these are words that should not be used to describe women...period..and the debate over body parts vs. jobs, democrat vs. conservative is just mind boggling.
Just like people want the Nword to not be used, the word retarded to not describe people..its just wrong. Whether its Rush, Maher, whomever. They're all a bunch of tools.

Exactly, Amen to that. If someone honestly thinks that what Maher did was better/different than what Limbaugh did, then that person has lost all credibility.

Both of these "men" are reprehensible.
Palin may have "put herself out there" but there is no excuse in the world for someone like Maher to call her what he did. It was cheap, mean, and above all else, sexist.
Maher's a hack who isn't anywhere near as funny or smart as he thinks he is.
Rush Limbaugh is, and always has been, a hateful, desperate for attention low-life.
I love the conservative vs. liberal rhetoric. These guys are basically the same people, just on opposite sides of the aisle.

I told my DH the other night that the only thing this whole BC issue has shown me is that women seem to be irrelevant to our government.
I didn't see ONE woman in the photos of those on the committee. Were there any? I think I heard a couple were added at the 11th hour when they realized they had no representation of women.
On this thread people are arguing about which slanderous term is worse. Why does that matter? Both are awful. What matters to me is that women seem to be getting the raw end of the deal on this from every direction. It sickens me and makes me feel like we are taking 100 steps back.

Palin was out there for scrutiny and rightly so. Do I think calling her a c unt was the right wording? No. Dumb or uniformed would have been much more appropriate.

I'm a liberal and I think Bill Maher is extremely smart and knowledgeable (although not very funny). I also think that what he said was REPREHENSIBLE and another example of how the media, both male and female, treat women as lesser human beings. He certainly hates the likes of Romney, Gingrich, and Santorum, but he's never used a word like that to describe them.
That being said, I'm really not sure how this is relevant to this thread. I realize that conservatives feel outnumbered on this message board, but it really feels like every time someone posts something negative that a conservative did, that all the conservatives jump up to say, "hey! but a liberal once did something bad, too!"
If I posted that someone robbed a bank, would people jump on and say, hey, but this other person also robbed a bank a few years ago, so this bank robbery doesn't matter?
I just don't understand how Bill Maher's comment is relevant to a discussion of Newt Gingrich calling a college girl a prostitute for wanting birth control.

The issue people are taking is that its ALL OVER THE NEWS when a conservative says something bad about a liberal woman, but when a liberal news person/host, like Bill Maher calls a Conservative woman the Cword..something worse than a slut, its no big deal, infact he's praised for it. Even though Palin was a "public figure" unlike this college student, doesn't give anyone the right to call her the Cword like Maher did.

BTW, if Rush Limbaugh said Snookie was slutty, I don't know that we'd be up in arms about it. I know I wouldn't.
