Re: Ryan Lochte robbery
I didn't see a fight or a door being broken down in this video.
Wonder if they have more they haven't released yet.

Re: Ryan Lochte robbery
This is insane. Sad because it takes away from all the awesome accomplishments of our US Olympic teams. He has always been an idiot. Sounds dumb as dirt when he speaks. Interested to find out the real, whole truth. Is it possible he/they will be detained and do jail time there? Crazy!

Re: Ryan Lochte robbery
Anyone who has ever watched even one episode of ""law and order" knows that if you change your story,.you're lying about something
Matt Lauer speculated that he made it up because he was out partying and thought he would be in trouble for breaking rules. But his races were over so he could do what he wanted.

Re: Ryan Lochte robbery
Idk. IMO this shows nothing other than them getting into their cab, and then getting back out of it and sitting with their hands up on a curb. You really can't tell if the guy has a gun or not, and you dont see anything prior to them exiting the gas station, so it's hard to know what, if anything happened in there. If there was some sort of altercation inside the gas station, wouldn't there be more commotion surrounding them exiting? They all seemed pretty casual about it. Plus, you CAN see that the others do sit on the curb with their hands up (which, why bother having your hands up if there was no gun) and Ryan Lochte does not at first, until the person steps in towards him and then Ryan sits down. So, he COULD have had a gun and slightly gestured with it.
I'm not saying that their story was fully true, but this footage doesnt prove to me that they are lying. It doesnt show enough of anything to prove anything other than they were at a gas station, they got in their cab, they were escorted out of said cab, and told to sit on a curb by a man who may or may not have had a weapon. That was pretty much their story (minus the robbery) and that was pretty much what the footage showed.

I do agree this footage doesn't prove or disprove anything as far as I can see.

Yes and without reading any comments, I don't buy it. I think he blew curfew being 20something in Rio, and didn't want to get in trouble. I don't buy the robbery, I think there was looks of drinking and girls.

They had a curfew? Ryan Lochte is 32 years old. If all he was doing was drinking and messing with girls, there's nothing to hide. He was perfectly legal. I would think there would have had to been some other behavior at play here - whether that be drugs or something else.

Probably all of that, as well as not wanting to lose endorsement deals. Even if it was just public drunkenness, I'd imagine corporate sponsors wouldn't be happy.

The Olympic committee imposes curfews on all the athletes. Someone else got thrown out last week for going out drinking the night before.

I thought it was fine since he was finished competing. I could be wrong though.

Re: Ryan Lochte robbery
Last night on the news they said that 3 minutes of the video is missing. Are the swimmers that were being interviewed still in Brazil? Maybe they would say anything at this point just to leave the country. Whether it was to confirm the incident or for other drug related reasons. The same for Lochte, maybe his story has changed because he knows his friends are still there. Just a thought.

Says the guy that took off and left the others to deal with it. One paying a $10k "donation". Probably a no jail time bribe.
So I am pretty pissed that the rat left the boat and abandoned the other swimmers while he was part of the mess.
He was told by authorities to stay and give back his passport. I understand it was scary. BUT.... There has to be some legal action the US has to do here. The behavior of an elite male athlete ONCE AGAIN shows they think they are above the law and getting away with it. Enough of the boys will be boys. If he damaged property he needs to be banned from the swim federation and may even need to be stripped of his medal.
