For the record, I make WELL over $250x as a hand model. I keep my hands in tip top shape by wearing oven mitts and avoiding hot irons.
Same. Except I'm a foot model. I took a big hit back in '07 when a fungus hit, but luckily I had money saved in a rainy day fund for emergencies such as that.
I laughed so hard reading this! LOL

I just feel like these threads end up making someone feel bad if they aren't making in the higher end of the salary spectrum.
Some people choose lucrative careers, others don't. Salary is no indication of someone's ability to have a family. Kids are expensive no matter what you earn.
No one needs to know what I make, and I don't need to know what others make. At the end of the day, who cares?

I work in the field too (though I'm not on the technical side) and you are SO right It is very rare to see female network or security engineers. I think my whole HUGE company only has about 2 or 3 female engineers.

Re: S/O of a question on Parenting board
Would you ladies mind telling me if you work on Long Island or in NYC? I am also working part time managing a little bit of everything for a small company and making considerably less than $35.
Thanks :)

My job is based on LI. I travel to the city occasionally but they cover my expenses for that. So it's a LI job

Re: S/O of a question on Parenting board
I didn't really answer the poll because I only work PT. I do get paid my salary based on an hourly wage and my salary if I worked full time is near the upper limits of the poll. I'm a chemical engineer and I am licensed in NYS. I also have 20 years experience which plays a part in the salary. I started out in 1995 making $35K and I thought I was the bomb!

Re: S/O of a question on Parenting board
I answered the poll, but I hope I didn't skew it. I only work part time, but I make within what the majority of people here make- that $50-100k

Re: S/O of a question on Parenting board
I only read threads like this for the jokes and drama.
Why don't the people who say "why cares?" really not care and just scroll on by? Do they think that everyone cares about every topic they wish to discuss?

Re: S/O of a question on Parenting board
I've been at the same job for 17 years - working in the public sector at a not-for-profit. I am VERY happy with my job - my flexibility, my 9-5, and the fact that I am on Long Island with minimal commute. My job in the city pays @ $25K more. If I went to the private sector, I could make waaaaaaay more $$$$$.
