Re: SAHM's
I am very lucky. We live close to my ILs and they are both retired and LOVE to have DS around. He goes there at least one day a week for the entire day without me ( sometimes more)
He can't get enough of them and they can't get enough of him. And mommy gets her alone time. So basically everyone is happy
eta. I just started letting him go there without me less then a year ago. Before that it was 3+ years of 24/7 being together. I never felt I really needed a break until now

Re: SAHM's
I'm pretty new to the whole SAHM scene but since DS was born , I really have had next to none 'alone time' .. that is partly my fault though. My mom lives very closeby and does offer to watch him here and there if I need to just 'get out' alone or run errands I cannot manage with him.. but since he tends to be a very high maitenance baby, I worry that he'll flip out when I'm not around, so I often choose not to ask her to help out (major faux pas on my part I know!) And when I do have her watch him I find myself rushing and stressing to get home which defeats the purpose of "alone time"
When DH is home, he does offer to watch Nikolas if I need to run out - but again I appreciate out family time and often just choose to stay wtih them..
I have to work on this

Give it time Flee. I was the exact same way in the beginning. I would say it probably took me close to a year that I really let myself get out and enjoy myself without DD but it is definitely refreshing and kind of renews my energy a little.

thanks so much for this, Jen. It's reassuring to know that other new Mom's feel this way -
Some days I just KNOW I need the 'me' time (because I find myself craving adult things and conversations..) but then I just feel so much 'regret' or worry that I'm not with Nikolas all day, all the time.. and I worry WAY too much that he'll be fussy for someone else (like my Mom) and she wont be able to soothe him like i can... I really hope that in time I can get better at leaving him.. I think I Have major separation anxiety, and he is usually A-OK!

Re: SAHM's
Not much during the week, but weekends my husband takes care of him, we take turns if we have things to get done. Maybe 4 hours a week?

Re: SAHM's
None here either. Usually when they are asleep or I am taking a shower.
