SAHM's if and when so you plan on returnign back to work.

Was having a discussion with someone today and she said that this other person shes knows is a homemaker and has been for 30 years but all her kids are out of college and out of the house. What do you think?Will you go back sonner or only after the kids are out of the house?

That's so funny you posted this b/c I was thinking this today. I think it's time I have a new career plan b/c I'm not sure I want to go back to what I was doing. In a perfect world I'll go back to school for 2 years then work part time. I never want to go back full time.

I won't work FT for a while. I want to be active in my children's lives. I want to be able to carpool, go to sports, dance classes etc and when they're old enough to be home alone I don't think I really want them to be. In this day and age I want to be able to supervise my children. So as long as we can afford it I will work PT around my kid's schedule.

When the kids get a little older I plan on starting a home based business, so that I can be involved in class activities, after school events, etc.

Of course, if our financial situation changed dramatically I'd go back to work FT.

I am hoping my business takes off and I don't have to go back to work anytime soon. I would like to be home with my kids.

Unfortunately I have to go back in the end of August when she is 8 months old. But my SIL and I are starting a photography business and I get my therapy license sometime next year, so hopefully I can do both of those and be home more in the coming years.

DW and I have discussed this, and she will probably get a PT job when both DC are in school. Something she can take off from at a moment's notice, take a week off when needed, or quit if she needs to be home. DC will still be her #1 priority, but I think it will be good for her to be around adults at a job for a few hours a day.

Once both kids are in school there's no reason for me not to work.

When both kids are in fulltime school then I plan on working part-time. I want to make sure I am home for them.

I'm actually going back to school in the fall to get my MAsters in Secondary Education...by the time I finish James will be in all day kindergarten and Marianna will be in Pre-School. But the great thing about the job I have choosen is that I will be off from work, when my kids are off from school

I love really want to stay home but I am returning to work in sept. And probably work a year and hopefully take off again.

I'm actually looking for PT work now (something simple, no weekends) etc.
We plan on having more children, so, I'll probably go FT when we feel our family is complete and the children are all in school...If we can pull that off financially. As of now, this is the plan.

I think I'll probably work part-time once the kids are in school.

even though i don't have kids yet, i think about this alot. DHs mom stopped working when he was born 27 years and still doesnt' work even though hes married and out of the house. shes very happy, but at the same time i can't help but think " wouldn't you like to get out of the house even a few hours a week??"
DH and i have talked about it and i think i'll go back to work part time when the kids are in school all day... i do want to be available for them though, and once we have kids i want to make them my main focus- not work.
