salary requirements and jumping your requirements
what do you usually say? do you give a flat out number? tell them what you're currently making? a combo of both? and how much of a jump from your current salary do you think is a fair amount to ask for

I say what I want and I never let my previous salary affect what I ask for ITA. When a company does require that I disclose my previous salary I usually inform them that a lower salary means that I had other perks, like the ability to work from home one day a week, subsidised day care, extra vacation days, etc.

Re: salary requirements and jumping your requirements
When I was interviewing for my current job, I gave a range of the lowest I would be willing to settle for, to what I felt was realistic that they would offer for my field and the responsibilities. They actually told me to ask for at least $5K higher then what I was currently making so the higher-ups wouldn't low-ball me. I ended up getting a final offer which was a couple thousand more than I was already making, so that was fine with me.
